Tempered expectations in 2012

Maybe because most of us have decided to be neither the idiots who say Dooley has already failed and there's no hope of success or the naive folks who see nothing but rainbows and rose pedals.

There are reasons for hope if all goes well. There are reasons for constrained expectations. It is what it is when your program is climbing out of the hole Fulmer and Kiffin combined to leave it in.
So you must have rose pedals on your pedal stool.

Are either one legit NFL players?

that has absolutely no bearing on my point. my point is that assuming a player will go pro because he has a baby on the way has nothing to do with the player's race and using Peyton Manning as a reference was ridiculous because his family wealth is well known.

This is the time of year that people generally start their posts of sunshine, rainbows and eternal optimism. I'm seeing fewer this year than ever. Either the collective fan base has gotten smarter, or we've just given into the the reality that is our program. My bet is on the latter.

I'm much rosier than last couple of years. I accepted that the program was in the ditch in 2010 and 2011. I think it is out of the ditch but my rosy scenario is 8 wins. I'll be thrilled with 9 and anything beyond that would be something very special.

My guess is people get tired of being optimistic on rat**** websites and having their posts turned into running jokes by resident unemployed *******s

Not saying this is 98, but I wonder what the negas thought in the 98 preseason?

IIRC there were very few negavol fans back then. We were all just hoping to beat Florida and win the SEC.

I think the 2001 had more talent than the 1998 team. Both teams were loaded.

After not seeing an 8th win in 5 years, I don't care what any of the "smart" fans say. Getting off the mat and winning 8 or 9 would mean something.

...your damn right it would just as it has in the past, VOL fan since I was a kid, 1957 first game I remember (pretty good for a Hoosier).

Here is my fervent hope _NO VOL PLAYER READS MESSAGE BOARDS_ too much negative crap.

I have always heard, and now believe, tough times don't last tough people do, same with fans ,same with players and coaches!

GO VOLS

It's the latter for sure. One thing about fanbases is that they NEVER get smarter.

Right. All they see is the upperclassmen taking over from freshmen, and blue-chip JUCOs coming in.

And Jay Graham.

Stupid fan bases, when will they ever learn?

Dooley's not getting an extension this year without a BCS bowl appearance.

:crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy:

I'm not going to worry about who the coach is - noone asked my opinion anyway. As an alum, all I can do is give my full support and hope for the best. That being said, I happen to like Dooley, the staff and our chances.

A great season starts with a 'W' over NC State. Why worry about anything else?

:peace2:

I like your attitude. If nothing else, the past 2 years have seperated the real fans from the fair weather fans. Believe me, I see them all the time living in UGA. You would be surprised how many people will stick a UGA sticker on their car and never watch a damn game.

14-0,then we call out the super bowl champ and we kick their arse.V,B!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not saying this is 98, but I wonder what the negas thought in the 98 preseason?

There were no negs back then...we'd been really good, and though Peyton was gone, we expected to be really really good again.

Yes, the 21st century has brought change, and it isn't all good.
