Telander looks slow

You go into battle with the men you have, not the men you want- General George Patton… I think.
Well said.
McArthur also said 'The bigger battalion wins the battle'.

Wasn't downing Telander at all - dude puts his all into everything he does.
Several plays today he was the last guy between a Ms St runner and the end zone and made the stop.
He knows how and has the instinct to play the position at a very high level.

And yet, he is 3rd in tackles, 6th in tfl and has an interception. Don't forget, he was pretty highly rated coming out of high school.
Doesn’t matter if he was the top overall recruit, he’s very slow and got juked out if his shoes several times today. He needs to be a spot duty guy, not a starter. Spillman and Carter need to be our main two.

I noticed Spillman was in at the end of the game. The tide might be turning to him.
Agree. I think as the season progresses . . . Spillman plays more. Telander will continue to play . . . But by next year I suspect his playing time will be very limited. We have recruited well at LB of late.

Teelander just does not have the speed to play linebacker in the SEC. Seems out of
Position on the majority of the running
Plays and can not catch up in space

His name is Telander. He isnt very fast, but he has a good nose for the football and has been laying the hammer on that big RB all game today. He missed a couple tackles. One day Harmon will play better and start. If we had ANYONE playing better than him at MLB then they would be on the field. Million dollar coaching jobs depend on it....theres no way in Hell they play an inferior player.

All I know is, twice so far today, Teelander has been the only orange jersey between a running back and the end zone: He put the runner down both times.

He may not be tackling for loss, but he's preventing scores. Good open field tackling.

Go Vols!

Yep. Both of these posts I quoted are true. Telander lacks elite speed. He is a thumper though and a team leader on defense. I trust the coaches to play the best players. Their livelihoods depend on it. GO VOLS.

We need to sit STALEY the Hell down. He already LED the team in drops BEFORE his 4 dropped passes and fumbled punt today. Stone Hands Staley caught the same disease that Nimrod had in the Slot last year. Terrible hands. Hope Rad Jackson is back to take Staleys snaps away for the Arkansas game

I sort of liken Telander to Will Brooks. Great mind for the game and superlative instincts which usually but not always makes up for the lack of footspeed. I'm really proud of those two guys, Telander laying the wood last night and Brooks' interceptions to stick forks in NC State, Bama and Kentucky. 🍊🥳🍾

Yeah, the problem isnt Telander. The problem is our staff's recruiting prowess up to now. Now, our 2026 recruiting class on the defensive side of the ball looks damn good, so we'll see how they pan out. But up to now, our staff has recruited at a "good" but not elite level.

For one thing, I think Inge is a better recruiter than BJM. But a bigger factor is that they’ve been recruiting with one hand tied behind their backs with the NCAA limitations. We lost Lagonza Hayward last year as a direct result of those limitations.

Please, feel free to send the suggestion to the team. I will be interested to see the PFF grades for the game and see what they show. They grade every player on every play, not just the one or two that some experts grade the entire game on. There were 86 total defensive plays. How many was he in, and how well did he play?

Oh I know you weren’t, it’s just the best we have right now. He plays hard for us tho
