Tee, the ACE RECRUITER!!!

In the 2019 class, 18 of the top 25 recruits in California are going or are projected to go out of state...

Not sure your thinking is accurate here.

2019 Top Football Recruits in California
Look at the guys Tee recruited in the OP. Overwhelming majority are from California. Oregon happened to eat USC's lunch this year (5 of the top 20 Cali recruits are going to Oregon), a big reason why Helton is probably going to be fired after this season. Look at USC's 2019 class. Huge majority of the recruits are from California, but he isn't locking down enough top guys. That doesn't tell me kids are dying to get out of LA or California - it means Helton and his staff aren't as good of recruiters as they should be and he's on a hot seat, making elite recruits skittish about going there.

I believe that he will be here one season. He will recruit well but will be gone before next year's recruiting class signs
One & Done
We will still benefit from him being here for the one season
Let's see how many 5 stars he gets.

Not the point. The availability of great recruits in the SoCal area is obscene. CA averages 45-50 4/5* recruits each year. Most of them in SoCal... and the majority of those in the LA area.

As far as I know, the NROTY doesn't take into account the area a guy works.

That said, he knows how to recruit and how to sell UT. My point is that we shouldn't just assume an apples to apples comparison.
Good post.Lots of low hanging fruit when you are recruiting southern California and your a coach at Usc.That being said I think Tee is a good recruiter and will do great here.

I'm happy to have Tee, but I'm also happy he's not the OC, and it's how I felt last year.

Well,
Things work out for a reason, and Chaney is a great hire too.

At least Fulmer has got things in control.

Jimmy can stay at the back of the bus, where he belongs.

If Tee is only pulling recruits from out west from previous ties there, that would actually tell me he isn't that impressive of a recruiter. If he has big time recruiting chops, the West Coast kids he could pick off would be great, but I'd like to see him pull a ton of kids from places like Charlotte, Atlanta, or Alabama.

You didn't read my post. I said a few.

Jones was a great recruiter. The hell?
Butch recruited Eye Candy for the fans.
Never considered what was actually needed by position.
Jones could recruit but the fans had to watch more talented players sit and wait until some catastrophic event occurred.
What's more, it was verified by the revolving door of players. His attrition rate was atrocious.

The great Vols fanbase seem to be at it again. This hire is setting up to be a doozy. So we have a guy in Martin who is known to be a good coach and great recruiter. Now some wilk say that well its easy to recruit at USC. Which is correct. But he was a top 25 recruiter at Kentucky. Thats not easy.

Here is what I can see happening. If Tee doesnt recruit at an ultra high levele immediately, he is going to be lambasted by aome of the fans. I can see the I told you so blah, blah stuff happening quickly. The unrealistic fanbase will likely show itself in full effect rather shortly. Same thing as the Chaney hire.

Just follow this link and see the type of talent Tee is responsible for landing. Many idiots may say....well USC has done nothing with the players....they would be right, they'd be idiots to suggest it's Tee's fault. USC has made horrible headcoaching decisions coupled with tying the hands of people i.e. Tee Martin. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE TALENT THAT'LL BE COMING TO KNOXVILLE!! Tee brings an element that'll propel UT near the top of recruiting ranks. Tee has turned down several roles at various schools to come back home!

Tee Martin All Time Recruits
Now now, let’s not go crazy with ridiculous hype and hyperbole.

He should have been able to attract top talent at a place like USC. That place recruits itself.

True. If you're not from LA and especially if you're a youngster, they get you down to The Strand at Venice on a Saturday afternoon, it's a done deal.

I do believe that Tee will be an exceptional recruiter for his alma mater. The Los Angeles area is larger than the states of Georgia and Alabama combined and I believe those relationships he forged in that area, along with ones we already have, could pay huge dividends very soon.
That’s just factually inaccurate. The LA metro area is nowhere close to even the size of Georgia alone.

What is Tees official title on staff?
Well it is not OC. We will have to lose a Coach. More than likely D Johnson. Position coach wise there will be some shuffling. More than likely on the offensive side of the ball and at present more than likely WR Coach with additional duties. Were you curious or do you already know?

We dont have to lose coach Johnson. Move him to RBs. He coached them. At Tulane. Dump Weinke and move Tee into WRs.

That would be dumb..... IMO.....and would still constitute losing a coach. Weinke is good and is an asset.

Okay. Now you're changing your statement. Before, you said the LA area was "larger than the states of Georgia and Alabama combined..." That is false, and it isn't even close. Now you are saying that it has a higher population. That is accurate.

Pardon me, I assumed that any person would assume I meant "larger" population than what you assumed was "larger" land mass.
