Tee, the ACE RECRUITER!!!

LOL it doesn't matter where you sit but you can plainly see that doesn't work at just any random school. ETSU could sell the immediate playing time to any 4 or 5 star rrecruit. I wonder why it doesn'work there.

Tradition and prestige. UT has it

That is all
Unless you’re a P5 or Irish winning a NC isn’t possible.

I figure the 4 and 5*s want to get to the NFL, win a NC and play early. Where and who is 2nd to that unless they have been a childhood fan or a legacy.

Scheme and the how comfortable they are with the coaching staff would be important too.

After these few variables the rest of the list could go on for a while.

I’ll be glad to see Tee in Orange again. Lots of good memories from the last time.

If (when) we get Tee on staff, I'd love for him to chase Kyle Ford that's committed, but not yet signed to USC.

5 Star WR and #30 overall in the nation? That'd be a nice bump in the rankings.

I don't know if Tee is a great recruiter or not. But here is some info on USC recruiting ranking:

Year Rank
2018 4th
2017 4th
2016 10th
2015 2nd
2014 10th
2013 13th
2012 8th
2011 3rd
2010 3rd

Tee was hired in February 2012. So he was involved in recruiting ranking for years 2013 - 2018. USC had good classes in all of those years. However, 2010-1012 were just as good if not better. So it is hard to say if Tee is a great recruiter or not based on the statistical info. Of course other coaches, etc play into recruiting too so it is not all Tee no matter where he is. So I don't really think we will be able to answer this question for a while if ever.

I really like the fact that Tee has connections in the Southern California area after his years at USC. That area is a recruiting gold mine. If he can convince some of those recruits to head east to Knoxville, that would be great.

If we start winning, everyone will love the QB, the coaches, life in general... if we keep losing, we'll keep haggling over the QB, coaching hires, life in general...
Wish that were so. Just not true. Certain faction on here have decided they can’t stand JG and how he plays and no matter what he does, how well he plays, that won’t change. Case in point.....actually had guys mocking JG for his throwing accuracy/completion % and toughness last year and refuse to see either as a strength for him. In their view, Auburn win and his outstanding play which earned him the national offensive player of the week meant nothing, was a one off and he still sucked. He could literally throw for 5,000 yards, 50 tds and no interceptions in 2019, and none of those guys will their collective minds.

Until Ford loses 30 spots for talking to UT

You said "no school recruits itself anymore." I was just taking that logic out to its conclusion.

All schools have things that make them good places to play football. Maybe it is facilities, tradition, location, weather, academics, coaching staff, the conference, etc. To an extent, every school "recruits itself." Some schools have some of those things, some have all of those things, some are the best or near the best at all of those things.

Even though i think coachs are the most important part i see what you are saying.

I do believe that Tee will be an exceptional recruiter for his alma mater. The Los Angeles area is larger than the states of Georgia and Alabama combined and I believe those relationships he forged in that area, along with ones we already have, could pay huge dividends very soon.

He can recruit period!

Oh boy. We've now reached the stage of VN delusion to where Butch Jones couldn't even recruit. If that's you, then I dare you to go back to the 2013,14 threads and look at the posts. Butch Stones!!! They got Butch Slapped. Deal With It Memes! Racoons stealing handfuls of cat food. Probably your own posts. LOL. Before long, he'll be brought up on child molestation charges and convicted in a VN poll. Gosh, the guy inherited a CFB cesspool. He recruited relatively well in light of it. Built up the wins. Lost games he could have won. Could coach games, develop talent, or build a winning culture properly. Eventually failed and walked away with millions in a buyout. That's basically it. He's just not ready at the highest level.

Some fans are like the masses in dictatorships and they're emotional instability. Those poor souls mourn, moan, cry, fast, lay prostate in agony, to show pain when the Supreme Leader dies. Once the new Supreme Leader rises to power they lay down all to worship him. The same folks run gladly to help pull down, deface, destroy, and eradicate the memory of the last Supreme Leader they just mourned.

Same crap with SEC head coaches and many emotionally unstable fans.

On the visit, Tee just takes the recruit for a little stroll that happens to end up on this corner.

Just point out that if you do good in Knoxville, they name a street after you.

If you think that UT recruits itself to the same extent as USC does, you need to take the orange-colored glasses off.

USC also has all that stuff you described minus the great fan base. Plus it is in LA.

Not at all debunking your argument. USC is elite...

But “Plus it is in LA” could also be looked at as a negative. I’ve lived there. It ain’t that great

I didn't say that UT didn't recruit itself. I said it didn't recruit itself like USC does. USC also does not have as much competition for recruits as UT does, and they lie right in the middle of a football talent hotbed, which UT does not.

The fact that Tee recruited talented guys while at USC shouldn't be impressive or surprising. Any coach with a couple functioning brain cells should be able to pull top talent there.

He was 6th in the sec as a young coach at...KENTUCKY. Suck it

These are 17/18 year old kids, many of whom are already from the area. Weather, beach, girls, bright lights of LA. Many of them don't want to go anywhere. I don't think most people their age and in their position are dying to get out of LA.

No, you’re right on one side of the coin, but I was in my EARLY (post 21) 20s when I lived there...I’m just saying, some kids, even the elite guys, like different vibes.

My point being...LA is nice, so is Appalachia...I know I’d have rather been a big fish in a little pond if I were a J.Jennings (as it pertains to girls, night life, the TOWN).

Have you ever been to (much less had to try and find) Clemson?

It remains to be seen whether or not Tee will make a difference while here. I think I will just sit back and watch before making a determination.

In the 2019 class, 18 of the top 25 recruits in California are going or are projected to go out of state...

Not sure your thinking is accurate here.

Yeah good points. Why is Chip Kelly sucking at recruiting at UCLA?

That's a fine question. He's on record as not liking recruiting, and never pulled elite classes at Oregon even when he had that program humming.

USC itself should be recruiting better than they have been the last few years. They've had a couple top 5 classes, but they should be doing that every year. Especially with their cross-town rival in the crapper.
