So how would you explain all the great recurits / recruiting classes Botch brought in. Yes obviously UT recruits itself. Now that we actually have a coach / coaching staff lookoout!!!!!!!
Look at who they where beating for those recruits vs who they are beating now. World of difference.

You really think UT recruits itself just as well as USC recruits itself?

I love our fan base, I really do, but man, we do have a really hard time seeing things from a different perspective.

USC is every bit the elite program UT is, has all the trappings UT does, has had more recent success, does not have anywhere near the competition for top recruits as Tennessee does, and is located in the middle of Los Angeles. It recruits itself to an extent that UT does not.
Tennessee is not on that top tier as USC, Notre Dame, Alabama, Oklahoma etc historically. Not close.

Just follow this link and see the type of talent Tee is responsible for landing. Many idiots may say....well USC has done nothing with the players....they would be right, they'd be idiots to suggest it's Tee's fault. USC has made horrible headcoaching decisions coupled with tying the hands of people i.e. Tee Martin. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE TALENT THAT'LL BE COMING TO KNOXVILLE!! Tee brings an element that'll propel UT near the top of recruiting ranks. Tee has turned down several roles at various schools to come back home!

Tee Martin All Time Recruits

We now have a in at Long Beach Poly to maybe steal a few of those players. The place is stacked will talent.

I didn't personally sit in any living room during an in home recruiting but I am confident that Butch used IMMEDIATE playing time as a selling point. Used our facilities & SEC as a selling point

UT and USC have been in a roughly similar spot.

Traditional programs, struggling to find a good fit at HC, losing to important rivals, and still recruiting pretty well (normally)

Hopefully, Tee bring his magic and lands some beast here.

Let's just say 05 & Elhanan (not that you had a counterpoint) both have many points with a lot of validity as it pertains to UT & USC, & we can move forward. Don't wanna get lost in the weeds. It's a good hire.

Seeing UT elite is my #1 wish. I also think USC being good is good for college football, so hopefully they improve somehow.

USC recruits its self, their all cali kids, they should be getting those, blah blah blah.

That list is impressive and Tee was responsible for getting most. The kids love Tee and he can sell a program. What you think he can do for a program that he won a NC with and holds a special place to him. Fulmer/Pruitt know what needs to be done and they are DOING it.
Be happy he is here and not somewhere like Bama recruiting against us.
Today is a great day for Vol Nation!

Then how do you explajn Jones?

There are plenty of places that sell themselves.

The first pitch Saban uses Doesent have any words..

He was a good used car salesman, that promised early playing time, lool at how many players didn't stay around.

Is he bumping out someone? I like Tee but ..... I don't know about this.
You cant have two wr coaches. At first i hoped he replaced the defensive minded
TE coach but he wants WR. I assume because it pays bigger money. Its a great
Victory for Tennessee to have him back in the fold. I know fans coming in since the demise of VOL football got there antenna up but you want be sorry. If your just
A Tee hater there is no solution for those folks.

You're right. There's nothing inherently more attractive about USC than Eastern Michigan.

Became you're comparing apples and oranges. And why are they not winning every nc. Southern California vs Tuscaloosa or Clemson.

I'm all for Tee. I think he'll make a great position coach. His experience can't be anything but added value.

That said, the "population density" of 4/5* recruits within a 50 mile radius of USC is the highest in the country. They could literally sign all 4/5* players getting half the players they offer... and never stay in a hotel while recruiting.

If they are so easy to recuit to how many coaches besides Tee won NROTY there in the last ten years?

This isn't the early 2000s when they were the "cool" team

Not the point. The availability of great recruits in the SoCal area is obscene. CA averages 45-50 4/5* recruits each year. Most of them in SoCal... and the majority of those in the LA area.

As far as I know, the NROTY doesn't take into account the area a guy works.

That said, he knows how to recruit and how to sell UT. My point is that we shouldn't just assume an apples to apples comparison.

You said "no school recruits itself anymore." I was just taking that logic out to its conclusion.

All schools have things that make them good places to play football. Maybe it is facilities, tradition, location, weather, academics, coaching staff, the conference, etc. To an extent, every school "recruits itself." Some schools have some of those things, some have all of those things, some are the best or near the best at all of those things.

LOL it doesn't matter where you sit but you can plainly see that doesn't work at just any random school. ETSU could sell the immediate playing time to any 4 or 5 star rrecruit. I wonder why it doesn'work there.

Tradition and prestige. UT has it

That is all

I know.... no one wanted Dereck Barnett, Nigel Warrior Jonathan kongbo, Alvin Kamara, Shy Tuttle, Juan Jennings, Darrin Kirkland jr ......

My hand is getting tired typing....

Yea I see your point.
