UK
I thought the opposite ....Felt bad for JG WR were not getting separation like they should have been...JG didnt help him self at all with the UK game though..... I think we have some really good WR in hyatt,,, hopfully wideman and velus can be super explosive in an offense we will see. Hopfully Bailey stays and i dunno if Arik gilbert has decided what to do yet but that would be the biggest in the transfer portal.

This year yes. Last year JJ, Callaway and Palmer were the backbone of the team.

Man I love Peerless but I hate stuff like this. What exactly did he sacrifice? A free education to play football? Becoming wealthy by coaching?
He and Jay Graham sacrificed some of their salary this year to help out UT with budget issues due to Covid. They were the only two football coaches to do so, I believe.

Tee has been at this since basically 2000. That's 20 years to prove oneself in your chosen profession. Still a position Coach. Did FULMER force Pruitt to hire Tee? "Suggest" There's your trouble.

Maybe he loved being part of UT football since it Is his ALMA MATER.

Edit: That being said, if Tee is guilty of not going to meetings I have a completely different view of him.

I understand that and I think he does love being here and I love Tee. I’m just saying, it’s not like he was doing volunteer (no pun intended) work around here. He got paid well as a coach. I’d take his salary any day.

some fans dont wanna give him credit
some fans dont want him to coach
some fans disrespect him every chance they get

Its not like the man is walking around arrogantly asking folk to kiss his back side. he just trying to coach at his alma mater and make a living. Aint been disrespectful to no one. Some of yall really f'd up and others just flat out against color.

I feel for Tee. He's a good man, and a great VFL. Wish him the best wherever he lands.

*nod* and not only that, but the reports over the past several days were that he and Jay were the only two assistant coaches busting their butts to try to keep the players informed and taken care of, keep fellas from leaving through the portal, sacrificing for the program even though the handwriting was probably on the wall for themselves.

The folks not showing Tee respect in this thread really ought to rethink.

No one hates him but you have to now separate the qb from the coach. You can remember fondly the 98 season while not thinking he should be the head coach of UT

I get it, Tee came on board under Pruitt likely thinking bigger things were in store for him at a place he dearly loves.
Now that opportunity seems to have passed him by with the hiring of a new head coach that may not keep him on the staff.

Something else to consider here, in the name of context, is that whether he was involved or not Tee is now linked to the coaching staff that has done the absolute worse things imaginable in the history of Tennessee Football.
Perhaps Peerless' tweet stems from that conversation...?

Are you high? Tee Martin was one cog of an entire team that won the NC and other than a few games that year, didnt really stand out as a playmaker at QB. He was good but not great. We won because of our defense and running game and special teams.. .a complete team. He deserves credit for being a good manager in most of the games that year.

As a coach he has a spotty record and hasn't really been that great at USC or Tennessee...ok? sure, NEED TO HAVE on STAFF? ehhhhh

Unfortunately, Tee came back resting on his laurels as the former quarterback and winning the National Championship while expecting a cushy job. Pruitt did very little to get Tee to do much because Fulmer requested that Tee be hired in the first place. There is a lot that went on within the program that caused division among the coaches and ultimately spread to the players. If the truth ever comes out which is doubtful, Fulmer did a lot of things in the background to "influence" the program. I think Pruitt is relieved to get away from Fulmer. It was time for Pruitt to be replaced, but let's not forget the forces at play with Fulmer as AD. I stated in another post that the day Fulmer had his hand in the removal of Johnny Majors, Fulmer could never be trusted. Why he was brought back as AD is very puzzling especially when he had his hand in replacing Majors as coach. I wanted to believe Fulmer had changed his ways and would be an asset, but he ended up being the virus that brought the program down farther. It will never be known had Fulmer kept his hands off and nose out of Pruitt's business, how it could have made a difference. Part of Fulmer's decision to retire is because some of the boosters and administration got wind of Fulmer's involvement in the football program, plus the decision to hire Pruitt. Fulmer has pretty much sealed what is left of his legacy from all that has happened. Let's hope with a new AD that the next coach won't have to deal with a voice telling him what to do and how to run his program.
