Tee Martin

So now you guys are the grammar and syntax police........that pretty much explains and characterizes Volnation...

Can't refute what is being said but must emphasize the format in order to keep the sheep happy

.....:crazy::)

I guess you guys feel real proud of your moderator badges....

This has nothing to do with grammar or syntax. Your quoting issues are absolutely trashing multiple threads since it also affects anyone replying to you.

Keeping the board readable is kind of a mod function don't you think?

Shame on Butch Debored for NOT giving him the rock more last wkend....shameful smh

I disagree. When Hurd was in the game, he was clearly unmotivated and disengaged. It was clear enough that the group I was watching with all discussed his obvious don't-want-to-be-here attitude early in the game.

Tee has earned back some of the goodwill with TN fans that he lost with his Hurd comments. Hopefully he's learned how to be more selective with his comments going forward.

IIRC, those comments were just overheard on a video someone snuck and put on Youtube, and it's not even 100% that it was Tee making the comment. To me, while I didn't like it, that's a whole different situation from someone making a public statement intentionally bashing one of our players. They were shooting the breeze about recruiting and he apparently didn't know he was being overheard on a recording. So I haven't held it against him, just hoped hoped hoped he was wrong. I now believe he wasn't.

I think it's possible to put the blame squarely on Butch & Pals for creating this mess, Butch specifically for making promises he didn't intend to keep. Same with Debord for having the dumbest and most easy to scheme playbook out there. But I also don't think very highly of a quitter and Hurd's attitude has been apparent all season long. Wish the guy well, but you don't quit on a team when things aren't going your way. Overcome adversity and move on after the season.

Very good point. Those two things are not mutually exclusive. We could have coaching problems AND a player with a punk attitude. Just b/c I am blaming Jalen for his attitude and selfish decision, doesn't mean I am letting the coaching staff off the hook.

Hurd, Preston Williams, Marquez North....I mention Marquez b/c it was reported earlier this year that one of the reasons he gave for leaving early was something like a "disconnect with the coaching staff". When your most talented leaders are leaving early and having discord with the coaching staff, there logically must be an issue somewhere beyond just their own attitudes or immaturity.

How many did they put on the board against Bama??

Does anyone besides Washington actually play defense in the Pac-12???

He changed quarterbacks midway thru the season and the offense clicked... Unfortunately, we have not and our offense continues to be dormant outside of the 2 2nd halves vs UF and TAM

You know, VFL34, you have more FB talent in one finger than I have in my whole body--or ever had--

but this comment by you is absolute HORSE-@#$&!!

It was just LAST YEAR with you posted in a thread about how Jalen is a much better RB than Alabama's HENRY...and how Hurd was gonna be much better in the NFL than him....

And how HURD had a much better upside than Kamara because of his longer stride and power....

And NOW you want US to believe that Tee Martin was RIGHT when he said that HURD WAS SOFT???

BULL--EFFIN'--SHEEET!!!!!

I've watched HURD play in the SEC now for almost 3 years like the rest.....and HE IS ANYTHING BUT SOFT!!!

I ALSO read your post before the BAMA game about how we Tennessee and we GONNA BEAT BAMA.....

I know that you don't have to give a Dang about what I think at all...but until now I really was willing to hear you when you spoke....

But NOT ANYMORE!! Thanks for all that you did for UT on the field and off..and I will always admire you for your team attitude, toughness, and selflessness....

But I can't abide this HORSE-crap HURD being soft....

And a bunch of you dudes better be careful about what is said about HURD.... He is going to play in the NFL...and he is gonna be VERY GOOD.....

You think some of you idiots would have learned something by now from making wrong conclusions about Arian Foster's talent and ability.....

:jpshakehead:

Apparently you can't read very well. I'll give you some help. Here's the hint, "personality".

Travis this is just not correct.
This is you trying to stand by your Vol heritage and rally the horses.

I know you and other former Vols don't want to give any real steam to "new regime" talk. And rightfully so.

But how many times has Jalen bareld over a defender for 1st down?
How many times did he push piles 4 yards after contact??
We don't go to a bowl game if Jalen doesn't make that amazing play against South Carolina as a freshman.

Jalen was one of the biggest reasons for the turnaround.
Yes you feel betrayed, but think about the abuse he has taken... think about all these other offensive players that have left the program.

He did the right thing.
And as a former Vol running back from the state of Tennessee, maybe you should think about how you just described him...

You are right about John Kelly. He will shine.

But Jalen was 446 yards away from being the All-time rushing leader at Tennessee. How could anyone truly call him soft?

Another person who struggles with reading. Guys, Travis would not say anything negative while Hurd was on the team. But now that he is not he is giving some insight. It went straight over your head tho lol. Here is the gist of what was said and meant. Hurds "personality" and "attitude" is/was the problem. Get off VFL34 before you embarrass yourself even more.

I don't understand how you and MikeVol44 don't understand that mentally soft is NOT the same thing as physically soft. No one questions or denies Hurd's physical toughness, but it seems to be pretty clear from multiple sources that Hurd has attitude issues and desires to be the center of attention. This is not the same thing as calling him soft on the football field.

I cannot understand why people do not get this.

I think its because they won't to blame Butch, Debord and fire them. There are more than I thought lurking around posting hate etc towards that line of thought. Hurd left = Butch didn't use him right. When in reality it was Hurd having a bad attitide= Butch trying to help him along.

In my head I really think Butch was putting pr lipstick on a pig for almost 3 years. He probably chalked it up early to Hurd's youth, it boiled over last year looking back on it. He gave the young man great advice to hang on to this year for his own good. Whatever however whoever assisted Hurd with quitting the team the way he has, IMO did a tremendous amount of harm to the youngster. It could be CBJ was covering for Hurd most of this season just trying to shepherd him through it, hence the lower extremity injury vs the concussion thing that Butch has been roasted for by many which has had him called a liar, conspiracy freak, control maniac, all sorts of things in hindsight he took without comment and may have taken those shots to protect Hurd. CBJ needs to learn a valuable lesson here, you cannot cover for some of these kids no matter how much you like them on a personal level. I do think CBJ has problems all his own (who the %$#@ doesn't?) but throwing kids, especially like Hurd, who has thrown him under the bus repeatedly in return via his "uncle" is not one of them IMO.

They had a different guy play QB then.

And its Bama.

They put 45 on Utah. They play defense.

Hurd may have been a douche, indeed. To some. I haven't known him to be one..

I was correcting Travis because he straight up called him soft, period. There was no differentiation like people keep trying to suggest.

Just 2 weeks ago, he was pumping Hurd up like he always has.

Travis doesn't want to openly admit the problem. Butch Jones.

He knows Hurd wasn't or isn't soft. And that's what he is implying.

Does tee call plays or does Helton? Helton has always called plays before this year. I don't pay attention to them this year

Hurd has what it takes to be a very good back, but his mind is soft. Who ever is advising him is absolutely ridiculous. I still think Hurd is a great back, but him quitting and then trying to switch positions is crazy. People knew he had drama with him but his talent was so much that you couldn't pass. A lot of teams wanted him as an outside linebacker. When your own mom disagrees that says everything you need to know.

Would Hurd have lasted on the rosters you were a part of?

THIS has been the most telling thing in this whole situation. His own mother and his teammates don't seem to have his back. Listen to Barnett's comments. TK Jr's tweet. The people CLOSEST to the situation seem to be moving forward generally unaffected.
