I love Peyton Manning don't get me wrong but Tee was the one who got us to the National Championship. So is there a Tee Martin lane in Knoxville? cause I know there is manning drive or something like that . Shouldn't we talk about Martin like we do manning? We just don't hear about Martin as much. Just wanted to know what everyone thought. :peace2:

Nothing against Tee, but watching him analyze games on "talking football" on Sunday nights doesn't really compare to what Peyton's been doing on Sundays.

Funny, until your thread, I didn't realize we don't talk about Tee much. I guess we use Peyton for a measuring stick and if you don't measure up, you do't get talked about much.

Championships for team games are won by teams. Manning is a great quarterback and is known as such. Martin was a fine role player on a very good football team. Barry Sanders is on everybody's short list of best RB's of all time but what did "he" ever win? Exactly. Look, I got nothing but love for Tee and all those '98 champion guys but try this exercise:

In what order do you place the players on that '98 team, as if you were putting together a draft board. How far down would Tee be? On even that one team he'd be a long way down my list. C'mon, Al Wilson, Deon Grant, Darwin Walker, Travis Henry, Dwayne Goodrich, Peerless Price, and Donte Stallworth would all get drafted before Tee, at least by me. And that's not even counting the likes of Shaun Ellis, Reggie Coleman, Cosey Coleman, Raynoch Thompson etc. See what I mean? Teams have team accomplishments but when you are standing there and what is expected of you is just that, what can YOU do, Tee was just a nice QB. Play that game with Peyton and he's in the upper echelon of players at the QB position EVER, at any level. That's the difference.

I've always thought naming roads after anyone under the age of 50 is pretty worthless.

What does the age of 50 have to do with anything?

It's arbitrary. I just think it's goofy naming streets after guys under the age of 25 when there are ex-Presidents, Generals, community leaders etc that actually deserve the honor.

How about the young man that gave his life for our freedom. I can't remember his name but the University did a tribute to him at halftime of the Arky game. These are the hero's of this University and our Country!

Wasn't Tee involved in some NCAA "investigation" after he graduated....and UT wouldn't let him come be on the sideline for a game or something? I may be TOTALLY off....but that is sticking my mind for some reason.

I've always credited Tee Martin as being a great leader on that team. And, while plenty of people note that Peyton did not win the championship, I'd be curious to know how much credit others thinks he should get for influencing the aforementioned super talented players to play at Tennessee? How did Peyton influence their work ethic?

Peyton had a lot to do with that national championship eventhough he didn't play on the team.
