Tee Martin top candidate to replace CCB

Hiring Tee would be a step down in terms of coaching and recruiting ability imo. Baggett was an excellent WR's coach and has coached up some of the best in the business. IMO, Billy Gonzales would be an excellent replacement. He's coached at Florida when they were at their best under Urban, and is currently serving as WR's coach for LSU. Elite recruiter and great SEC oriented coach. Now that Urban's back however, he could end up at OSU considering they're good friends. Still, if we offered him the right amount of money im sure we could get him. Dooley should give him a call.

Why is a former QB coaching WRs? Seems dumb, sorry--and not really impressed by a short stint at Kentucky, which isn't exactly an offensive juggernaut. Count me as someone who doesn't jump up and down when a former Vol is hired. I want GOOD coaches with chops before former Vols. We went through this with Smith--who had scant coaching experience and was by all accounts a pain in the a$$.

Were you aware Baggett was a QB? That change your mind?

No matter how good a wide receiver is, he is still a weapon FOR the quarterback. QB decides where he's going throw the ball. It is logical to have a former QB teach wide receivers the knowledge of what a QB is able to do in certain situations and etc. IE. A wide receiver can run the perfect route, but the QB might be in trouble, thus, the WR must know where to go to in that situation to be most effective.

If Tee was a good recruiter for Kentucky I could see him being great for UT as a recruiter. He will be passionate about who is recruiting for, and a better product to sell.

As a coach...I have no clue

The thing I envied most about the Ohio State hiring of Urban was when he said he was going to make it his goal to hire the absolute BEST assistants out there. He didn't say available, he said out there.

That being said, I think Dooley needs to do this (hiring the best assistants he possibly can). If he doesn't, this more than anything, will be his downfall.

Thoughts?

Can we give it up on the "Reasons for DD to get fired" ideas....it is beyond annoying at this point.

I don't know...but when you hear rumblings that someone is OFFERED the job. I would believe he must have been a candidate, right?

No, it just means that you're hearing rumblings.

Maybe someone who posted the rumor ate bad tacos, and now he has rumblings, and you're hearing them.

Maybe you have rumblings.

If nothing else, the last week or so on VN should have taught you that people get wrought up and post absolutely anything at all, including what their pet turtles told them.

All I know if Dooley wants to keep getting paid by UT he better hire people that has a clue.Because next year will be his last year.He should be hiring the best that he possibly can.I dont know that he can do that. What good asst. is going to come here for 1 year?

While I would love to have Tee on the staff my 1st choice would be.....

Rob Ianello. He just got fired as head coash of Akron, was the assistant head coach at Notre Dame, has been a great WR/TE coach and recruiting coordinator. He was rated one of Rivals top 25 recruiters several times. Tom Lemming said Ianello is one of the top-10 recruiters of the last 30 years. In 1999 he was named one of the top-10 recruiters in the nation by ESPN and one of the top six recruiters nationally by Sporting Newswhile he was recruiting coordinator and WR coach at Arizona. He was assistant recruiting coordinator under Bill Curry at Alabama in 1988-89. That staff signed 17 of the 22 starters on Alabama's 1992 NC team. He helped develop players like Golden Tate, Michael Floyd, Jeff Samardzija, Maurice Stovall, Rhema McKnight, Owen Daniels, Bobby Wade and Dennis Northcutt.

Go hire him NOW! :loco:
