Tee Martin stayed at USCw...

The frustrating this about the Tee situation is that it's just another Vonn Bell type case. VFL, heart and soul lies with the Vols, GBO, blah blah all that crap......... except when we're losing they want nothing to do with us. I suppose it's the brutal nature of the college football world, but to me being a Vols fan is about a lot more than wanting them to win.

I consider myself a true fan of the orange. I know I personally would give my left nut to come play any sport for Tennessee, and when I was done I would give my remaining right nut to come back and coach (graphic example I know just trying to get the point across). If I was a high school prospect, or if I were any form of a coach, and two or more schools pursued me and one of them was Tennessee, I would laugh the others away. That's what I expect from anyone who I believe to be a loyal fan of TN, whether it be Tee, Vonn Bell, or anyone else out there who claims to have love for TN.

If you would rather make other "business decisions" then good riddance.

Agreed. What is wrong with having passion in our fanhood? If you dont like it, go cheer for the trojans!

I bet your just waiting for people to praise you for saying that lol You are hoping you get posts after it going "agreed...This....Thank you!...couldnt have said it better myself". Get over yourself bro, and the high horse you rode in on.

Like the saying goes, you cant be a passionate fan if you are a UT fan or you get crucified. Freakin ridiculous. Nobody is better than anybody else in here.

Not really sure who this is directed at or if this is just a nonsensical rant, so I'll just say:
Go Vols.

Its directed at the Rhodes scholar above lol Sorry, forgot to past quote. Go Vols and Go Lions. I was at that Colts debacle....I actually wanted to cry on way home lol

Yeah, a part of me died a little that day haha... that one play summed it all up for them this year.

Bro, you know its excruciating being a Lions fan lol I love them to death, and still go to games, even on the road! Was in Nashville for that debacle too...looooong flight home lmao

Martin is making his decisions with his family in mind. In a year or two when we are winning and he spurns us, then get mad. Until then, I don't blame him

No one knows what truly went down. I'm not sure where I saw it but someone quoted T as to saying something along the lines of "the offer was laughable". Not saying that was true just a lot goes on behind the scenes that we don't know about.

Tee's decision disappointed the hell out of me.

And I'd be lying if I said that I didn't resent it. My first instinct is to say, "well, there are consequences for decisions" and that those consequences should, in this case, include never being offered a job here again ... especially when we are winning again and back to competing for championships.

However, there's no need to "hate" Tee Martin. He was a great player for us, and I am grateful for his contributions. Doesn't mean that I'm not disappointed in him for making that call, but I'm sure he doesn't really care what I think about that. Nor should he.

I'll welcome him back for reunions of the '98 championship team and for Vol Legends Tirbutes. I just won't be campaigning for his return to Knoxville in a coaching capacity.

Brentwood tn as we all know...where our boy bUTch spent alot of time already a couple weeks ago. Unlike drooley, the idiot.

I hope he was treating Beech's Jalen Hurd to breakfast at the Waffle House! Word to Butch try Cracker Barrel, it's a Tennessee based chain. :birgits_giggle:

The problem with Tee is he handled the situation very poorly. I wish him well but I have some hard feelings about his excuses for not coming here. Liar Kiffin is in his last season. Tee will be looking for work. I don't think CBJ would offer him again.

Why the hate? Tee and his family were not met at the airport, which didn't represent UT well. The job was a lateral move, and the money wasn't there. UT didn't try to match USC's offer or make an attempt to sweeten the deal, even though UT had the budget. Jones didn't want to spend that much money on Tee, and that was his call to make, but you can't expect someone to leave a job he likes in a city where he's happy to make a lateral move for less money. Looks like Jones didn't really want Tee here, and Tee was content at USC, so it was just for show all around.

The problem with Tee is that some "fans" handled the situation poorly. How could anybody with half a brain think that he should have gone public with his private business negotiations and information about the offers made by UT and USC? Is that what you think? I think that discrete excuses were appropriate in that situation. For those who haven't heard about the "discrete" concept, it is the manner of better people, the opposite of loud and rude.

I keep hearing that ,T, was not offered enough money to coach at UT. How much is he making at USC? The taxes in CA are three or four times higher not to mention the overall cost of living compared to Tenneesse. Maybe T should have taken a course on finance while he was here. Is it the southern west coast climate he enjoys or is it his wife that likes CA. I felt bad for him when Peyton announced he would stay for his senior year, I remember how T hung his head during the presser. Enjoyed watching him lead the our team to the 98 championship. He made his choice and it did not include UT. Maybe he wanted a parade when he was here for the interview with Butch? Sorry that he did not except the UT offer it would have been nice to see him back in Neyland.

Kiffen gave him a big raise and then every recruit T had committed flipped to another team. Now I don't think you can lay that on him but his choice to stay on Lane's ship and probably go down might not have been that smart career wise. However I think this decision was based on his current wife's wishes.
