Tee Martin and Jeff Brohm Contacted per GRIDIRON NOW

If I may answer, I believe hiring Kiffin instead of Brian Kelly or Gary Patterson and giving him a low buyout with reckless disregard for what Carroll returning to the NFL could mean for us, was the biggest mistake this program ever made.

However, I would absolutely support hiring Kiffin with a large buyout this week.

If we value winning, he might be our best chance by far.
It's going to be very hard to hire anyone right now.

I agree with all of this. I only asked him about Kiffin because he was using Tee not accepting a job here under Jones as a reason not to hire him. If he would welcome Kiffin, that would be a little hypocritical. I'm not completely sold on Kiffin as a coach. He's not done too great as a head coach, and he's benefited from a ton of talent as a coordinator. His immaturity is also a red flag, but I would still welcome him at this point. I would also welcome Tee.

I was against Tee for HC at this point in his career, until Sunday happened.

I would welcome Tee now.
But, I would be concerned for his coaching career, because I think he's not ready for this.

I wasn't ready for him either. If we put a good staff around him, he would probably do okay though. I mean LSU hired Forrest Gump and put a good staff around him, and they're seeing results. It would cost some money, but there are several former players doing well as coaches. If we could hire Sanders and Steele as coordintors and hire Graham, Fair, and Jones as assistants, we could have the start of a pretty good staff.

I could live with Brohm. This feels a bit early to make Tee our HC. Probably early for either TBH, but it's better than what we almost had.

After Sunday, Brohm now qualifies as a grand slam.

It's going to be hard to hire anyone with this leadership in this environment.

I know people see Brohm as a “google coach” but he worked miracles at Purdue this year. Took a team from 3-9 and last in the division to 6-6 and 3rd in the division in his first year. That’s incredible.

and probably as far as he goes in the B10

Let's just end this crap show and...

...send a U-Haul truck to the Currie residence.

I don't know whether Tee is the right choice or not, but he clearly made the right choice. I don't know what was said when he interviewed, but Butch Jones is a damn idiot. I'm sure Tee saw or heard something that didn't sit right. He wouldn't be in as good of a position as he is now if he had decided to work for that moron. I'm sure he did what a good father should do, and help his son consider all his options. Would you rather your son play for an elite coach who competes for championships and puts wide receivers in the NFL nearly every year, or would you rather your son play for some band geek, who isnt worthy of a high school coaching job?

Posters that call others idiots and morons must act like them to know them.

I'm very good with bringing Tee back to Knoxville.
Given the last few years you have to think NOT taking a job with Butch should count as a positive.

While I'm relieved that Jones is gone, I'm sick & tired of such ignorant statements. :ermm:

His son lives right there in town and went to a school two states away.

Maybe he loves the school.
You think Archie Manning doesn't love Ole Miss just because he sent his son to a conference rival?

Archie didn't let Peyton go to Ole Miss because Ole Miss was a dumpster fire when Peyton was being recruited, and he wanted what was best for his son.

Tee Martin may be a VFL, but I would hope that he is a father before anything else. And if he had a choice between sending his son to one of the best programs in the country, the reigning national champions with a chance to contend for years to come, or sending his son into the ****show in Knoxville just because Dad has a legacy there...well, let's just say I'd be very disappointed in Tee if he had done that.

We're finding out there were problems at UT even before this season. Tee surely knew all of that before it ever became public.

We can complain about such things when we have a football program that former players can be proud to send their sons to play for. Right now, we don't have one. We have an effin joke.

Tee please come home

Should he? With all the ugly things Vols fans said of him fro the time he won an NCAA natty with a team Peyton couldn't. And again when he said "NO" to Butch Jones. Yet again when he insisted Jalen Hurd was soft. Why should he return? Plus we already tried a receiver coach as a HC and it didn't work out. I think we tried twice with Dooley and Jones. But pay me no mind. I just posted to test the Firefox Grammarly add-on just to see if it worked on VN. Being it vanished earlier each time I logged onto VN.

He's doing great at FAU....undefeated in conference play.

I agree. But would he come is the question. Hell after yesterday who’s willing to come be all Vol and right this ship?!?

Don't jump down my throat here, but I'm seeing a lot of Kiffin love on this thread. I understand they're completely, 100% different scenarios here, but do you know how hypocritical we would look if we just called for a coach with high integrity because we didn't agree with Schiano's tarnished name, then turn around and hire Kiffin? I get that we want to win, but come on every one, let's win with a little class. If a big name hire can't occur, and I'm about 99% sure it can't now, I'd rather bring in Cutcliffe or Tee, or both, and turn the keys over to some guys that actually get this university's tradition and passion.

Tee is most likely a great guy but probably not a good pick for UT Knoxville's head coach. Every time his Championship team did something good .... the media would say "Yeah, but Peyton would have done it better". Then, when Tee Martin's team captured the National Championship .... UT was so excited, they named a street after .... Peyton Manning. When the huddle breaks, there are some QB's I've wanted to do my best for, and some other QB's .. well ... not so much. I think that Tee Martin inspired his players, but the Knoxville sports press ... never got that.

Coach Mark McHale could inspire UT's whole football program again.

UT does NOT need a head coach in training.

What we need and what we might have to settle for after this fiasco are two different things. Tee may be the best we can do right now. At least he'd be a great recruiter, we know that. And he's unlikely to leave for another job.

Brohm strikes me as Jones 2.0 in that he can impress with low expectations, not sure he's the man for a big program. I hope I'm wrong if he comes to Knoxville
