Tee Martin is such a better option than David Cutcliffe or Les Miles. If we're going that route, rather than trying to get someone like Mike Leach, I'd much rather go for Tee.

Cutcliffe is a great coach, but he's 63 years old and has no passion or desire to be at Tennessee. It's silly to hire Tee as "Head Coach in Waiting" so that we're basically taking 2-3 years to actually start building up the program again.

Les Miles isn't that good. He was 19-10 with top 5 talent in his last 3 years at LSU. He did not have a workable offense in years. He coasted by solely on the fact that he's in the most talent-rich place in the country with a near monopoly on much of that talent. If he was 19-10 at LSU, he's going to be worse at Tennessee.

If we're not going for Mike Leach or Jon Gruden or someone like that, Tee absolutely makes the most sense.

No, he’s not ready. We simply can’t take another gamble hire just because he played for the Vols. And no to Les Miles and Cutcliffe as well

Coordinators who turn out to be head coaches good quickly are in 1 of 3 categories:

1) Experienced at coordinating and groomed to be an HC like Kirby Smart
2) Interm at the college they are coaching like Clay Helton
3) Coordinated on the opposite side of the ball that the head coach was on like Stoops.

Which one is Tee in?

Tee is a horrible hire for this situation.

I wish him well, but what happened this week wasn’t about accepting our new place at the bottom of the food chain where ESPN feels we should be.

"Coordinators who are successful head coaches are in one of the 3 arbitrary categories I created specifically to find a way to exclude Tee Martin."

Also Mark Richt and Dan Mullen do not fit into any of the above 3 categories.

Mullen and Richt both for into category one. Both had a lot of experience and were groomed. Richt spent 7 years with Bobby Bowden, and Mullen spent 3 as OC and 8 years under Urban.
