Tee coming home...

As an analyst? It’s funny how some people didn’t question Helton being waaaaay overpaid to be oc when he probably never called plays in his life and now you’re saying tee Martin should come in as an analyst? Nah homie, tee has earned his place on this staff and if y’all did more than go on word of mouth you’d see he didn’t do too bad as the oc at usc. 2016 and 17 were pretty good
I know. I just hate to lose what we already have at certain positions.

Why in the world was this announced at such an odd time?
Forget about the announcement time, CTM can recruit with the best of them! I'd say we have one of the best recruiting staffs in the country, now. That probably means either Wienke or Johnson are gone, possibly both.

IMHO, I think Jones made promises to Hurd about lining up in the I-formation and letting him do what was more natural. They had a lot of success doing it.

Again, Hurd bears part of the blame but if I'm right and Jones lied just to keep him on the team then all that was needed to blow it all up was a spark... and then they got it.

🤷‍♂️ Could be. I do not have anything to support one way or another. Just not a fan of someone who quits on his teammates.

...showing up in USC gear for a job interview is wildly stupid. Especially towards his Alma mater.

Secondly, he trashed a recruit on national signing day for signing with his Alma Mater. It truly is amazing to see the folks who have flipped their script today compared to back then who spoke against him venomously.

Lastly, what offers did he have after his firing that Tennessee had to beat out for his services. Tee signed with the best school available that was offering him.

All of those things are true. I think if hired to be WR coach, he will do a solid job.

I think the funny thing I’m amazed at is all the people who get butthurt the minute anything perceived as criticism happens. It’s also funny the majority of those people are the same ones who bashed the guy countless times. I really can’t believe this site is free because it’s entertainment is second to none.

I agree that showing up in USC gear wasn't Tee's best move, but it certainly wasn't enough for me to no longer want him here.

As for "trashed our recruits on national signing day on national TV", the only thing I'm aware of is Tee's "soft" comment about Hurd made in the USC war room and caught on audio. As I recall, it wasn't even 100% certain that Tee was the one who made the comment, and (if so) it's unlikely he intended it to be recorded. Again, I wasn't happy about it, but I'm absolutely thrilled he's returning! I have no doubt he's a VFL.

When OUR new legendary defensive coordinator was on OUR payroll in 2009, he went to USC to train coaches for Pete Carroll. Another CFB program. When photos of one of the meetings surfaced, our illustrious DC was found wearing a USC shirt while doing it! 99.9% of UT fans on this board just sat here with their thumb up their #%@ and didn't say a word about it.

Tee's issue is child's play by comparison.

Here's the thing that Bammers don't realize.

Why would Dabo leave a dynasty he built in Clemson with a conference that doesn't really have a serious challenger to take over Alabama?

Jimbo might be an option, but he very well could be on the table.

Pruitt is also a possibility, but depending on the success he has here and how well he builds his own reputation, he might not leave.

Also, who wants to be the coach that takes over for Saban? Who followed Bear Bryant? Who followed Gene Stallings? Nobody remembers those names.

If Dabo wants it he’ll take it and a lot of folks don’t realize there won’t be a drop off at worst it’ll sustain and climb to higher peaks

The question is why would he want it when life is really good at Clemson?

Basically, it'd be like moving from a house on one side of the street in Hawaii to an identical one on the other side.

So having an opinion that isn’t 100% in lock step with the all or nothing “fans” is an agenda?

I guess that’s the way the world is getting today. Either submit and follow 100% or have an agenda because you agree 80-90%....

Definitely young people logic.
lol

There’s a whole bunch of truth there for sure. It’ll be a bidding war and I really think a lot of us are hoping Bama gets stiffed when there’s a good chance they’ll just reload. I don’t think Jimbo leaves ATM they’re committed to 100M.

I think he reneged on both Hurd and DeBord. That’s why DeBord Urban retired.

Ask Texas how "bidding" wars turn out...

Basically, their arrogance thought they would just roll into Tuscaloosa before their last coaching search and wave $10 million a year under Saban's nose and he'd come running.

Until Bama paid him $11 million a year.

I wouldn't put it past Clemson to match any bid from any other collegiate program out there.

That works if one side of the street is a beautiful little college town and the other is, Tuscaloosa.

If he sustains his success at Clemson, he will be known, by far, as the greatest Clemson coach in the history of the game. He goes to 'Bama and could win a couple of CFPs and still not be in the conversation. Maybe he doesn't care about legacy, but maybe he does.

I think he's perfectly happy at Clemson. Don't see the man making a change! JMO

At this point, he can pretty much name his statue height at Clemson. Two Nattys and two more appearances in the big dance? First 15-0 season in over a century?

Dabo is home.

Saw he gets paid for 2 more years from USC,, wonder why that??

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tee Martin is returning to his alma mater, where he quarterbacked Tennessee to a national championship 20 years ago.
Martin, the former USC offensive coordinator, has reached an agreement with coach Jeremy Pruitt to join the Vols' offensive staff, sources told ESPN. Contract details and his title are still being finalized. An official announcement could come as early as Tuesday.
Martin will be paid by USC for the next two years.
I bet his son comes home to....

I don’t know if Clemson can compete financially. Your right though owning the ACC will be a lot less stressful than the SEC

I'm sure that there is point when the money gets just too stupid for Clemson but they can compete.

He could never win another national championship, and average 9-10 wins a year and still be beloved in Clenson. I live in Upstate SC and my daughter is a Clemson student. The people here just eat up all of his folksy sayings. BYOG, ROY bus, etc. - everytime he says something like that at a press conference, they are buying the new t-shirts the next day.
If he goes to Bama and doesn't win a national championship in the first 4 years, he'd be run out of town.
His love of his alma mater might lead him to take the job but he'd be better served to retire happy at Clemson.
