Tee coming home...

You don't know the reasons he left. There is enough "smoke" to prove that Jones very, very badly mismanaged numerous players including Hurd. The drama with TKjr comes to mind. The complete mismanagement of the QB situation last year. Even going back to his very first year when Vincent Dallas provided a spark to the return game then quit after Jones benched him.

There were early signs. Attrition was bad. Injuries were consistently above SEC norms. Many just didn't want to hear it.

I'm sure Hurd made mistakes. Seldom is any relationship issue completely one sided. But he's been a model teammate and very productive for Baylor. My suspicion is that the majority of the blame goes to Jones.

Ok. I get all that. But you do not quit halfway through the season. He quit on his team. You ride it out till the end of the season then transfer.

If posted already, mods, kick it out of town. Here's what Tee had to say to, yes you who deny Tee-hate exists, he said it:

“After you’ve been a black quarterback in the SEC, there’s really not much people can say to me that I haven’t heard before,” Martin told the LA Times at the time. “Not only social media-wise, but to my face. But that doesn’t bother me or affect me. I know what it is. I don’t get down, just because those people don’t matter. And they have never mattered.
All that’s mattered is me showing them otherwise. So I get competitive. I get even, so to speak. You get called the N-word for no reason, then I’m going to show you how good this can really be and really make you mad. That’s how I’ve always dealt with that dynamic because it’s only there due to ignorance.”

Again, this is why I hoped he'd never return. But he's here now and the Fulmer-Pruitt team is for it so it must be good despite all else.

Same here. The whole thing has devolved into a race issue on facebook. Half the fan base seems to think he's disrespected simply because he was a black QB and god forbid if he were to fail or move on his own.............it won't have anything to do with his performance and everything to do with his race. For the sake of this team and this fan base, I hope he turns out to be the super elite coach some people think he is.

IMHO, I think Jones made promises to Hurd about lining up in the I-formation and letting him do what was more natural. They had a lot of success doing it.

Again, Hurd bears part of the blame but if I'm right and Jones lied just to keep him on the team then all that was needed to blow it all up was a spark... and then they got it.

Perhaps, most likely, they will go for Dabo, Fisher or someone else before him, throw big money their way. Timing of Saban retirement or moving on to NFL contingent. Hopefully, Tennessee, if Pruitt is successful, won't let it be a money issue. Pruitt may believe, or learn, that he'd rather enjoy his own legacy vs living under saban's.

Who knows the future, but, IMHO, Tee is thought of, and thinks of himself, as way more than he is, or has been.

Here's the thing that Bammers don't realize.

Why would Dabo leave a dynasty he built in Clemson with a conference that doesn't really have a serious challenger to take over Alabama?

Jimbo might be an option, but he very well could be on the table.

Pruitt is also a possibility, but depending on the success he has here and how well he builds his own reputation, he might not leave.

Also, who wants to be the coach that takes over for Saban? Who followed Bear Bryant? Who followed Gene Stallings? Nobody remembers those names.

AGREED.

Confused why did you hope he wouldn't return? Because he has a chip on his shoulder to prove people wrong? I am betting a lot of things have changed in 20 years on the hill.

For a fair number here, it's not simply due to his color but doing what Peyton-god failed to do. That defied the supremacy complex of such folks. That's a big reason I hoped he'd never return, why go through it twice? UT has a history in this stuff. Condredge Holloway faced it, and witnessed his mom being vilified by such fans as well. People denying it exists for Tee don't know and as he said, don't matter. Let's hope he does a fine job and is a major contributor in bringing the Vols back to prominence. That's what we all want despite whatever else divides us.

Have explained this in other posts. He's here now, so I'm rooting for him to be a major cog in bringing the Vols back to where they really belong.

It's no big revelation to the world that Volnation has some real paragons of common sense.
It's kind of like a mother.....Everyone knows your child is going to be bad sometimes, you just hate for anyone to see it! In fact, I cringed. lol......

What do you consider anti Tee? I don't think anyone is anti-Tee the person. Coaching ability is an entirely different thing.

Whether you were to insult me professionally or personally, I'd conclude that you were anti-JP.

Just like if I insult you, personally or professionally, you might take me as being anti-Falstaff.

You make it sound like folks have a huge grudge with Tee. I’m sure the Peyton Posse does.

My only issue with Tee is he spurned us twice when he was at his “hottest” candidacy for jobs. We are now hiring him after washing out at USC and his offers were pretty weak. Feels like a pity hire by us. Outside of him spurning us and trashing our recruits on national TV, I have no issue. Just an odd timing and hire.

I never thought Tee making the best decision for his career and his family equated "spurning" us. He was smart to not join Butch Jones. Chris Low reported Tee "chose to return to Tennessee after weighing several opportunities, including various roles at Alabama, Auburn, Louisville, Maryland and Vanderbilt.", so it definitely doesn't sound like a "pity hire" to me.

Go Vols!
