Tee coming home...

Hurd was a Botch recruit and probably was pampered by Botch, but because someone left while Botch was here is not a reason to dog them. It seems like there was a lot of stuff that went on behind the scenes during his time here that we are not aware of as fans. If we base a players ability of how Botch played them at UT then Kamara is no good and would be a scout team player for the Saints. Tee had no reason to run Hurd down. Time will tell how good or tough he is if he makes it to the league as a TE.
I would rather dog a guy who actually did something to hurt the team in a very public manner then I would dog someone who was overheard by a microphone making a comment that was not intended for public consumption and was really only making a comment that his favorite program was making a bad decision in recruiting.

You guys should be listening to Basilio. He just said the following:

  • We hired Tee out from under Bama
  • Tee took a red eye last night to be in Knoxville today because he’s so excited
  • His position hasn’t been announced yet because there will be some “shuffling” soon
  • David Johnson likely out
  • We had to act fast so we wouldn’t lose him

You're setting yourself up for disappointment, I suggest you cool the engines mister.

Haha. What's been done can't be undone.

Go back and look at my posts about Kiffin coming as HC and what I said about compensation. Was literally the same check he gets now with a crapload of crazy high incentives. Basically he gets paid crazy millions in any given year he wins big and doesn’t when he doesn’t win big.

As far as an OC, I would gladly give a blank check for Kiffin compared to industry for OC’s. Obviously your OC can’t make more than head coach, but I would hire him for any major amount short of paying more than head coach.

Wow. Great news for the program. One cool thing about this is that it will restore Tee’s relationship with Vol Nation. Feels like he’s one of us again. Dare I say.... it feels like 98?!

I am REALLY happy Tee is coming home. That being said, it definitely does NOT feel like 98 right now though as bad as I hate to say it.

If Tee helps, great. I’m 100% indifferent on the hire.
Was on OC. Turned down an offer to interview for a HC job. Didn’t get an OC job anywhere and decides to take a position coach job. Something doesn’t add up. If he does well, he won’t be in Knoxville long.

I hope he does great things on the recruiting trail. Seems that’s the only reason he’s at UT.
It’s a huge reason to have him, but he needs to excel at it.

If going to LA and coaching other kids and putting your career ahead of your own son is something you admire, so be it. But his career looks about the same as it did in 2012. Big mistake. I suppose raising his son is less important in your eyes
You sound like a real piece of crap in this thread. You have no idea what he does. I know his children's mother. Tee is a great, great father.

Even 98 didn't feel special until the goalposts came down after overtime v. Gators. Then really ramped up v. Arkansas. I think the payoff is coming. The foundation is strong. We just keep the momentum, get tough, play mean, build strength, learn, and stay focused.

Tee never said he was a “bust”. He said he was “soft”. Quitting on your team the middle of the year is “soft” in my book.
You don't know the reasons he left. There is enough "smoke" to prove that Jones very, very badly mismanaged numerous players including Hurd. The drama with TKjr comes to mind. The complete mismanagement of the QB situation last year. Even going back to his very first year when Vincent Dallas provided a spark to the return game then quit after Jones benched him.

There were early signs. Attrition was bad. Injuries were consistently above SEC norms. Many just didn't want to hear it.

I'm sure Hurd made mistakes. Seldom is any relationship issue completely one sided. But he's been a model teammate and very productive for Baylor. My suspicion is that the majority of the blame goes to Jones.

He talked sh!t about our recruit because USC lost out on them. The fact you can try to justify it just shows what a hypocritical agenda you have. It truly is amazing.

I guess you are one of those people who don’t think trees that fall didn’t really fall in a forest if no one was around to see it.

Dude, get your philosophical questions straight. It isn't whether trees really fall if there's no one around to see them. It's whether a falling tree makes a sound if there is no one around to hear it.

The reality is that assuming that the tree did in fact fall, you could observe the tree after it fell and see the results. So by using the scientific method, you could run some experiments to see if in fact the horizontal tree is the result of the tree actually falling, or maybe it grew that way all along. I guess you could rightly ask if there is no one around to see it, does the tree even exist at all? Can we assume that something exists just because someone says it does? Even Einstein wondered if the moon really existed if no one looked at it. It's a philosophical question without an answer really. What was it you were saying?

I think the Arky game was where I was ready to declare divine intervention. As Rush would say......"It was a fumble from God!"

Technically, if no creature with auditory senses was in the area of the sound waves, then it didn't make a sound. Sound is a measurement of wave frequency and amplitude much like temp is a measure of heat......just sayin.

Do you know personally what he did or didn't do for his kids?

What good would it have done his son if he had attached himself to a buffoon like Jones? Who specifically had their career boosted by working for Jones?

Broken families and kids without a present father are a HUGE problem in our society. On that, I agree. But when we get to specifics... we shouldn't assume more than we know about why the family is broken or how well Tee tried to deal with that reality.
