Here ya go Scooter:
“It was a situation where if I was going to go back to Tennessee, it was to be as the head coach, not as a coordinator,” he said. “I made that message very clear. When I was out of that discussion, they moved on to do what they had to do.” Tee Martin
Tee Martin: Interest in return to Tennessee was only as head coach
Thanks Halph66

Yes true.
LOL its right there in black and white but go ahead. You asked for a quote and there it is. Spin it any way you want.Nice year old qutoes. Things change. So not true.
Following the addition of Jim Chaney, could Tee Martin join the Tennessee staff?
After 44 days, Tennessee’s search for an offensive coordinator ended on Tuesday night with the hiring of Jim Chaney. The Vols reportedly outbid Georgia for Chaney’s services and will pay him up to 1.6 million annually. With that behind us, focus will now shift to Tee Martin, who has been connected to the Tennessee staff in recent weeks.
The latest piece of news comes from Trey Wallace, who reports that the Jim Chaney hire was ‘key’ in the process of adding Martin to the staff.

I wouldn't mind the addition of Tee to the staff; especially as a position coach, maybe position/co-OC.
Tee should take the best job available. He doesn’t have the tools to be a Power 5 HC or OC for that matter. His football IQ is less than desirable. Fulmer most definitely knew this. The NFL knew this and USC eventually figured it out.
Yeah it’s in black and white “IT WAS A SITUATION”, which clearly isn’t him saying he would only ever go back to UT as HC. You are completely overlooking the context and even the words he used to babble about nothing. You asked for the quote. There it is. Seems to me you're the one trying to bend it to fit your narrative. No, I'm not missing the very essence of what he said. He told Fulmer that the only way he would come to UT was as the Head Coach. Not sure how much more plain he could have been about it. With him being fired and maybe not having many options, would he take a job here compared to the other options.....maybe depending on the other options......would/should we want him? I would say no. Why would we want a guy that is simply settling?
Smear? How is that a smear? The guy scored like a 10 on the Wonderlic test.I don't see the reason why people feel the need to smear Tee like this. He had one subpar season as OC. He went 10-3 and 11-3 the other two seasons, helped develop a 1st round draft pick QB, won a Rose Bowl, and was one of the best recruiters in the country.
Even during the one subpar season, Clay Helton took over playcalling duties and USC got worse. I don't think Tee was the main problem there; he was just made the scapegoat.
He's not an elite OC, but there have been lots of guys who struggled at first who have become elite coordinators. See Manny Diaz at Miami. He was considered a bust at Texas. Yet, he came back a few years later and built some very good dfenses at Miami.
Tee could very well get another OC role in the future and getting mentored by Chaney could be very helpful for him.
