While watching the first half, it is apparent that there is a large talent discrepancy between us and Florida. This is going to be more evident as we go through the rest of the season. However, what I have noticed is the lack of technique, predominantly on the Tennessee side, more specifically in the defensive backfield. This, though, could be more due to the lack of talent. It is not necessarily that the DB's are out of alignment but may be due to the inability to make up the deficiencies in the talent gap with the WR's and QB. (It's not like Florida is throwing 60 yard bombs.) This may be why there is so much time for the Florida kid to throw the ball thus allowing the WR's to become open. The coaches can educate players on what they are to do in packages and schemes but, if they can't actually/literally be in the position they are suppose to be, then they will not succeed. Just as tiredness impacts technique towards the end of games, conditioning is important. The same goes for technique. Talent can make up for some lack of technique but not vise versus.
Point is, there seems to be a severe lack of coaching but there also seems to be a huge talent gap, which we all know understands. On the questionable swing pass that was ruled a forward pass, did anyone else notice Jennings not try to recover the potential lateral? Anyone else think he should have caught that pass for a TD instead of it becoming an INT? As for the other INT, in reads taught, Jennings was suppose to turn one yard past the first down marker and rove out to the sideline. He didn't and JG threw it straight to the Florida kid. Is this on the coaching? Talent? Technique?
