My prediction is that once he is the full time qb and a pattern for his play is established and he takes a regular beating he will not be talked about like he is the second coming.

While I have no idea what the future holds, things will be different when teams only have one QB to prepare for.

Yeah, I don't know about all that. He scares me. I can't help it. He is the perfect QB for Meyer, and it looks like there actually may be something to this spread option business after all. Dang it.

Lex has it right...until you only one QB to defend eh will continue to be the gimmick in the offense. not to say that he isn't talented or may/may not be the second coming but once he plays a whole game i will make a decision on him he certainly does look good now - but who wouldn't when you only play 5-6 downs and there is no pressure on him to be "the man".

He is good but you cant run in the sec like that as a qb, sooner or later you will be injured.

I don't know what to think about him. He is somewhat freakish (in a good way) in his abilities and toughness. He will take a lot of shots in the spread option but for now he seems like he can take it. Also, don't forget that Tebow will have Percy Harvin and Justin Williams to play catch with for the next few years not to mention that UF has a good shot at landing Rivals' #1 and #4 WRs in the 2007 class. I just don't think he'll be running as much with those types of weapons.

The hype around Tebow is unwarranted, IMO. Sure, he makes some nice QB sneaks, but running an offense is a l lot different than rushing for 20 yards.

Chris Leak runs their offense and deserves the credit.

Until Tebow proves it -- not that he can't, but until he does it -- I'll hold my applause.

People know what he is going to do anyways.

But qb's have patterns and D's learn them and adjust. I just think that he will have a whole new world come next fall. Right now Def Coodinators prepare for Leak and should. Next year it will be different. I just know how good def are in this league and how they adapt.

And let us not forget, this league has had running qb's before. There is a reason they quit. Let UF and young Mr. Tebow enjoy this while they can. He will be good at it and they will have some success, but he will have a much tougher time next year. Call me crazy but the main thing that is making him successful right now is the oddity of it. That will end.

I don't think that "jump shot" pass will ever work again. Period.

Tim Tebow is even more overrated than Chris Leak was when he was a freshman at Florida. I know Leak is winning games this year, but he really hasn't been anything special. Tebow won't be anything special either...

I think Vern Lundquist and Gary Danielson were ready to make sweet man love to Tebow after the Dr. J Hook pass for the TD against LSU.

I watched that game and VL and damn, think Urban Meyer, Chris Leak, and Tim Tebow are just untouchable gods of college football or something.

There great at what they do, I'm not saying there un-skilled, but it gets really sick after awhile.

I think it's the newness that has not worn off. Put him in for four quarters taking a constant pounding and see what happens. He cannot run bootlegs every play. He will have to run other plays. As big as a target as he is, he will be statistically more prone to injury.

The funny thing about him this year is that he could cost Leak his chance at the Heisman.

IMO Tebow is looking good for two reasons. First he comes in for a change of pace - defenses are set up for Leak and Tebow definately is a change. Second, he only plays 5 or 6 plays a game. Second, he is a young big kid and is full of energy when everyone else on the field is winded and playing at a slower pace (he typically comes in on the 7th-10th play of a drive). When he has to take every snap and get rung up like he does on those sneaks, he'll slow down and be at the same physical level as everyone else.

He is a gifted boy with potential, but he will not have a great year until he learns to play in the SEC while getting beat up next year. He's taking some big hits, but nothing like he'll get next year play after play after play...

Florida would not be where they are without Tebow. the Heisman goes to the best player on the best team, and without Tebow, Florida would not be mentioned as one of the best teams right now. i don't think they beat us without him converting the 3rd and 4th downs that he did.

they haven't done much with him except in short yard situations. i'll refrain judgement on him until i see more.

I agree that he is a change of pace and does well at that. We will see if he causes problems when he has to run the offence for the entire game.

But that jump pass just makes me not like him. Trick plays are all high risk, high reward. Sooner or later, he will get burned, bad.

No doubt the Vols have put together a very good football team this year. Glad you folks are back in the mix. Unfortunately, for you folks Tim Tebow WILL be the most dominant player in this conference for the next 3 years. He is the best QB prospect ever to come out of the state and probably the best overall prospect since Emmitt Smith. This is a true freshmen that scored 3 TDs against the #1 defense in America saturday and leads all QBs in avg yards per rush. If you think that is just luck or game planning you are kidding yourselves. He took on and consistnetly dominated the LSU lbs and DBs (the best America has to offer) on run plays, pushing them back 3-4 yards after contact (much like he dominated the UT defense in Knoxville). While the Razor backs win w/ Mustain handing the ball off 95% of the plays and Stafford has proven 'not ready for prime time' Tebow has already established himself as a leading contender for MVP of the current #2 team in the country at the halfway point of the season.

As the playbook opens for him and the list of playmakers comtinues to grow you will also see the "All-time leading passer" in Florida HS history side of him. I suspect Tebow and the Gators will have the most dominant offensive football team in the SEC for the next 3 years. Tebow will prove to be the best player in America.

And with that post, this thread is going to the other sports forum..

And if you think the way Meyer is using Tebow is not doing him a lot of favors, you are kidding YOURself. Yes, Tebow has been impressive. Yes, he has been very effective. But he is what he is right now, effectively a Single Wing tailback who isn't asked to do a lot of things like read defenses, manage the offense etc.

Tebow may turn out to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but the fact is he hasn't played a complete game yet, faced any adversity and has thrown a grand total of 14 passes in his career (1 of them was an INT). Forgive some of us if we are reserving judgement on whether he belongs in the College Football Hall of Fame.

Exactly where would Florida have been Saturday without young Mr. Tebow's 2 TD passes? He and Mustain are the two best young QBs to enter the league together in the last 20 years.

I think he traveled on that one TD pass. LSU got hosed by the refs right there..

That was kind of funny looking. It was a great playcall, but the jump was definitely overkill.
