Tebow vs Peyton Manning

I say it diminishes his career. He isn't known as the best QB ever. He's known as the best QB to never win a Super Bowl.
If you poll 100 people and ask who the better QB was, Dan Marino or Joe Montana, Joe would crush Dan.

If there's one thing I've learned from years of both work and coaching, it's that there's an amazing number of idiots in the world. As it pertains to this, there are still people who are convinced that Joe Namath was a great quarterback, that Len Dawson was not, and that Joey Harrington failed simply because he was a poor QB.

Since we're talking titles and all-time greats, who IS the best ever? If we're ranking based on winning, no one comes within a mile of Otto Graham. Then it would be Bart Starr.

My list...................

1. Unitas
2. Montana
3. Graham

I'm I lifetime Cheesehead, so I have no problem congradulating Starr on his successes. I was simply saying that Peyton will not go down in history as the greatest of all time unless he wins another SB or 2.

it's kinda difficult to compare them on a pro level as tebow will likely not see the field as a qb very much. not saying that just cause i'm dead sick of hearing about him but that's what the majority of talk is on the likes of espn. has anybody seen the gq article where the author refers to his "inescapable corn-fed handsomeness"? i hate to be a hater but it's getting so old. btw, peyton on kiffin's team would have been a lock for all time college qb, imo.

People say Tebow is the best Florida ever had. And since most experts picked Danny Wuerffel over Peyton back in the day when they were playing I have to say Tebow is a better college player than Manning. I didn't agree that Wuerffel was better than Manning. Florida had slightly better teams back then that made up the difference.
Tebow is the first Florida player I have ever liked. He is tough! He doesn't appear cocky and I don't hear anything bad from him. Glad to see a good guys like Tebow and Manning make it big.
Now, which of these 3 will go down as the best QB period? I think we all know who that is. LOL

pure speculation. he does however have some track record with quality qb's. i really don't think all the excitement coming out of camp is just smoke, this offense appears to be one that would have worked for peyton.

If we are talking strictly college QB...

I'll take Tony Robinson or Heath Shuler over Manning or Tebow any old day.

Pro QB... Manning can't and won't be touched by Tebow.

Manning never had a defense.

It is very hard to compare because football is such a team sport, I mean there are 22 of them, it's much harder for 1 person to make a huge difference than it is in basketball. However the ones that can make the most difference are QB and RB because they touch the ball more.

As for quarterback? It's Manning hands down. He could make the throws and read the defense, that's what quarterbacks do. Tebow wins in the mobility/rushing department but Manning just blows him away in the passing/reading defense portions (from what I have seen so far, that could change though).

Just look at Tee Martin, he wasn't even close to the "best quarterback" we had at Tennessee. He couldn't hold Manning/Shuler's jock strap, but they won a NC with him. (Tee is a great kid and one of my all time favorite Vols, but as a quarterback he was marginal/good but nowhere close to great).

Tony didn't win the Heisman. Tony also won 0 National Championships. I'll have to take Tebow's success over Tony.

Tebow isn't even the best Florida QB ever......think about it, if we are talking on the college level

He has 2 NC rings and a Heisman, and may win another of each this year. No other Gator QB has done that, not even Spurrier or Wuerffel.

No, but he knocked the Heisman winner (Bo Jackson) off the front cover of SI.

Bo Jackson was set to the SI coverboy. Auburn came in to Neyland ranked #1. The Vols waxed their ass, thanks to a brilliant game by Robinson.

SI put Tony on the cover instead of Bo.

Peyton Manning is my favorite player of all time. He is probably the best pro-style QB in the history of college football. The problem there is spread/option/dual-threat type QB's are more productive in college.

Tebow is probably the best college player I've ever seen.

I am not a huge Schuler fan. His stats can't even compare to Manning's. Why do you think he's a better college QB? Not to mention Schuler's best team finished ranked 8, and I think Manning had 2 top 5 finishes.

Shuler had the strongest arm of any college QB I've ever seen. He had accuracy to go along with that arm. He could also lower that head and play fullback like Tebow. Shuler could beat you a lot of ways.

Majors/Fulmer were smart enough not to use him as FB from the QB position. It's a miracle Tebow hasn't suffered a major injury trying that stunt in the SEC.

I feel they are two totally different qb's anyway. They are and were both great qb's. However, Tebow is the more versatile of the two. I hate Florida, so I have to say Manning.

T weedle D or P weedle Dumb? T weedle D won the Heisman but I think P weedle Dumb is the better overall QB.

Peyton is better than Brady. Ask yourself how the Colts would do without Peyton and then we saw the Pats without Brady.

Yes we did, the Pats didn't make the playoffs.

I see your point though, and I agree Manning is more important to the Colts. Plus I think it needs to be pointed out that Manning was paired with Dungy. He's a nice guy and yeah did finally win one, but he has to be one of the worst playoff coaches ever. How many times did the Colts just look unprepared in playoff games?

1 vote for Tamaurice Martin

Tee has been my favorite qb so far. when he played it was about the team and winning games instead watching home movies of eli and peyton throwing balls to archie as 4yr olds every commercial break. even unnamed offensive linemen said they played harder for Tee because it felt like a team instead of the Manning Show
