Tebow on Tennessee

He finished below average on a test designed to measure the intelligence of a bunch of college football players. Have you ever met a bunch of college football players? They are not known for winning any spelling bees or anything. And Tim...below average.

Ok, so I'm assuming you want to argue about the word "dumb". So what word would you prefer?

I've met a few. Some are smart, and some aren't. From listening to some of Tebow's interviews, it sounds to me like he is pretty intelligent. He doesn't sound like a complete idiot when he talks. Also, he earned a college degree in Family, Youth, and Community Sciences. It's not calculus, but it's not under water basket weaving either. He might not be Einstein, but he's not an idiot.

1. Tebow is a nice guy.
2. I admire his faith.
3. I wish he had come to TN.
4. Get over it.
5. This is another really stupid thread.
6. People shouldn't mock his dad or his faith.
7. Tebow owns Neyland Stadium, so I understand the jealousy.
8. Jealousy is bad, get over it.
9.Another really bad thread, I will get over it.

Ok, I will go along with that

I would have loved to have had Tebow at Tennessee. He's a team leader with a huge desire to win. I'm pulling for Denver to win the superbowl this year and don't be surprised if they do with Tebow leading the way!

Jealousy? Of what, his foreskin collection?

Jealousy? Of what, his foreskin collection?

The jealousy thing gets thrown around any time there's a relatively successful person that is disliked.

It's as tired as the race card. Not all of us are that uncomfortable with ourselves.

I watched as much as I could stomach of a slavishly adoring documentary about Tim Tebow the other night. He's an admirable kid in many ways, but what can't be denied is that he's dumb as a bag of nails.

In one section, he and his dad - who reminded me of David Koresh with a little Jim Jones thrown in - are sorting through a mountain of recruiting letters, one of which was from Tennessee. Dad asks him what he thinks about Tennessee, and Timmy mutters something unintelligible (I rewound several times trying to make it out) before saying what sounded like "I went up there and I don't really want to go back".

Now this was ages ago, and what else should I expect from a kid who ends up with a statue of himself erected outside The Swamp. Nevertheless, it irritated the hell out of me, not only that Timmy so conclusively dismisses Tennessee while seriously considering the Mike Shula-led Bama but also that ESPN chose Tennessee to sit atop the on-camera reject pile.

Maybe I heard it wrong. Did anyone else see it?
So what! You looked way to deep into that statement. So what if hes a gator. He is a great person and truly cares about others and top of that you will be hard pressed to find other players in the NFL that do as much charity work as he does. So what if he didnt want to be a Vol. He grew up in a home of U of F graduates and die hard fans. Get over it. Manning is from louisiana. Is he as dumb as a bag of nails because he didn't go to lsu?

Tebow is a good guy, and an excellent leader--but he annoys people, including myself, with his public displays of religiousness--and make no mistake: he's trying to proselytize. And that's the problem with the christian crowd--they want to push that bs on everybody. The bible verse in the eye black in college--please. You want to be religious, fine--but keep it in church or your own, don't parade on the sports field. Hey, he got brainwashed by his parents. Just play football. He's pulled out a lot of late wins, for which he and the denver defense deserve credit, but for the most part the bronco offense has not been very productive with him at qb. We'll see how he evolves, but I can't see him keep running 20+ times a game, but he is built like a fullback.

Tebow dumb as a rock. But I do admire what he has been able to accoplish and his faith. With that said, he is one big lick on the knee from being finished. Mark my words...that style won't last long in the NFL.

I've heard this BS for a while. Yes anyone can have a knee injury; ask Jamal Lewis, but Tebow is built like a LB. He's not your average QB.

Which part is the BS? The 'dumb as a rock" part? Or the "can't run the option in the NFL"?

Do you by chance know George or JeriLee Gillen. They live in town on Brown Street. Behind the big Church of CHrist there in downtown Guntersville.

Being a Christian, I take somewhat offense to this post. I'm sick of people blabbing about Tebow's "religious chauvinism". You speak about Tebow as if he's a self-righteous elitist when in reality, all he's done is given every bit of glory the media and public have given him right back to God. So what is it that offends you? Just because you haven't explored the possibility that their may be something out their bigger than us doesn't mean he should take the same route.

He has rushed 82 times in 10 games this year, or eight times per game. Do you feel that lieing about his rushing really helps your argument?

Haven't read the whole thread, but has anyone asked OP what he would have said if he were being recruited and his dad asked him about Florida?
