Tebow finished

It's a guessing game. Too many variables. A guy can look great, depending on who is around him (see basically every offensive player that left Manning and the Colts for more money).

Yes, I see how that's completely different from basketball, where your stats are completely independent of the other guys on the floor.

He threw almost 400 NFL passes and completed under half of them. Not significant?

He can't pass well enough to play quarterback. He can't run an NFL offense. He's useless as a backup because he can't do anything that your regular quarterback normally does, and he's useless as a starter unless you're willing to run a high school offense that no one thinks you can win with. It isn't the "baggage"; it's Tim Tebow's skill set. Or prodigious lack thereof.

That is significant and has meaning but I'm talking about an overall measurement of value.

One thing nobody seems to notice is that the Broncos have a very difficult time running the football. Under Tebow, with basically the same pieces they led the league in rush yards and were 6th in YPC. Under Manning they dropped to 16th and 25th, respectively. Having a dominant passing game should open things up for the run game, but they still struggle to run. With Tebow the read option was enough to open things up for the RBs. His total value is not found in completion %. Blaine Gabbert barely completes over 50%. He can't run. And he's a #1. WTF

How does the fact that Willis McGahee died factor into this?

Blaine Gabbert is a crummy QB, but at least he sort of has the bare tools to be able to play the position in the league. He's at least occasionally capable of throwing 30 passes against an NFL defense and completing half of them. Whereas a GM can't even sort of squint his eyes and see Tebow running a conventional NFL offense, which is why he is unemployed.

McGahee going out 5 games early accounts for just a fraction of it. He was on pace for almost 400 more yards (and somebody else got a large fraction of that 400). 2011 Broncos rushed for 800 more yards. It's night and day difference.

Gabbert will never be good. You're too concerned with whether or not a QB looks the part.

The ball in Manning's hands > almost anything in NFL history, including a little bit better run game.

Looks the part?? Blaine Gabbert is a horrible miserable twisted excuse for a starting NFL QB who plays for the worst team in the league. But yet his completion percentage is still significantly higher than Tebow's, and as I said he's had multiple games of 30 attempts and better than 50 percent completions -- which you can't even really imagine Tebow doing without heavy use of chemicals [1]. Gabbert can at least pretend to run an offense, even though he sucks at it. Tebow can't do anything except plow up the middle and chuck a few bad passes.

[1] On the viewer's part, obviously. BECAUSE NOT TIMMY

I want Tebow to succeed, but no franchise wants his sideshow to distract the other 52 guys. His celebrity status and constant being covered by the media is killing any chance he ever has of playing in the NFL. Instead of taking him for what he is, a solid backup, everyone either wants to anoint him as a starter or whine that he should be cut. It creates too much friction for the other quarterbacks competing with him.

A backup's primary job is to come in on a moment's notice and run the same offense the starter was running without missing a beat. Tebow can't do that for any team in the NFL. He could theoretically be a starter, if you wanted to run the Denver 2011 offense; he could probably be a hybrid wildcat/fullback/tight end thing, which is what I expected NE to try to do. The one thing he cannot be is a "solid backup."

False.

The band's name has repeatedly been the subject of many rumors pertaining to its alleged hidden meanings. Among these rumors are claims that the name is an acronym for "Knights In Satan's Service", "Kinder SS", or "Kids In Satan's Service". These claims have been denied by Simmons himself.

I think the Jaguars should sign him. They really have nothing to lose at this point. They could offer him the starting QB position as long as he signs a minimum dollar amount 1-year contract. Give him the rest of the season as starting QB and see what happens, if he does well, great, resign him next year. If not, cut him loose.

However, Jaguars may be going for the #1 overall pick in next draft where Bridgewater or Bryce Petty may come out early, if not, Tajh Boyd will be in it. So they may want to continue to role with what they got.

Pierre garçon imo. His career has crashed and is burning.. With receptions, yards, and dollar signs.

As a young kid Garcon was a #3 or a #4 under Manning for most of the time they played together and his stats were comparable to the year Manning was hurt and the year with RGIII.

Garcon is legit but he's one guy who succeeded without Manning (Wayne is another). Look at the list There are a ton of guys on there that you probably forgot about.

Seriously gonna say Edge just wasn't very good? Clark?

I don't think anyone, even at the time, thought Addai, Brown, Tamme were really that good.

I do get your point that yeah, the stats say they had their best years then... And they do. But nobody was crowning them due to those stats. Because people can think beyond statistics.
