Teams With Open Date To Replace UAB

If I had my druthers, we'd play Miami in Atlanta or Jacksonville. Doesn't matter...we'd beat any of them by 3 TD's! :pepper:

Thought TOS had an article today where hart said he was in discussions with UAB's conference to provide a replacement (even if that meant reshuffling CUSA's schedule so some team with a game that week currently can move that game to a later date to play us).

So, doesn't this mean that UT will play Rice. The OP said they have an open date and they are in the C-USA.

Who would you prefer on this list? All of these teams need an opponent for 2015 and have an open date on 09/05

Any of those based on the current state of their program and and respectable current performance would be an upgrade to UAB and suitable replacement for SOS purposes. At the same time any of those with a sub par performance from us, could walk away with a win. That is not a list of cupcakes. LaTech and Miami might be the least competitive. As probably BG. Rice iffy but should be win for us unless we show up flat. The rest would be good opponents.

Rice is a very good team in their division. I'd want Miami. They're probably one of the bottom half teams on that list.

Miami or Air Force. 1st choice Miami. Utterly despise Miami...hang 50 on them in a season opener.

I can't relate to the fearless warriors out there. We are not positioning for a title run. We're still in the beginning stages of rebuilding and we need those bowl games for all the practice we can get. Scheduling a Miami or even BC/ECU right now would be irresponsible. Sure , beating them would springboard us a ton, but a loss would be hard to overcome with the rest of that schedule.

Even if UT won a tough 1st game, there would be a physical cost for even playing in that game.

I say Air Force. I take a lot of pride in the fact that Tennessee plays very few cupcakes. Air Force is considered a serious threat in the Mountain West. We can beat them and it would be good for strength of schedule.

You almost never want to play an option team. Nobody runs it and it is hard to prepare for to face just once that's why they get upsets on so many occasions.

$60 tickets probably minimum, play Miami or BC somebody the fans can relate to. First game of the year and we're suppose to worry about wins and losses. If you cannot beat either one of those teams in year 3 then we have issues for the long term success.

What is hard for people to understand that Hart has said we are working with CUSA to get one of their teams. This is being done in conjunction with the Nashville Sports Council. While some of those other teams being mentioned do have open dates, they are not CUSA teams. Reading is fundamental!! That means it will be either Rice or LA Tech. Probably.

I completely agree. My picks would be Miami, Boston College, and Bowling Green.

Bowling Green please. I have to think that at least the ACC teams could feasibly want a home and home (not that that'd be the end of the world). But Bowling Green would be more amenable to being scheduled for a one-off I'd guess.
