Teams We Should Not Lose To In 2007

thats why we play in the toughest conference in the country hands down cause anybody can beat anybody on any given saturday

ur exactly right i mean look at the top five this year if im not mistaken 3 of them were from the SEC florida tennessee and LSU with USC and im not sure the fourth team in there

Guys when was the last time Fla lost to someone as bad as Memphis. I was goin to say Cal but Fla did not play them.

I remember a couple of years ago during the Zook era they lost to a terrible Mississippi State team. That MSU team finished 3-8 with wins against Tulane, Florida, and Kentucky.

9 or 10? Come on.

in the manning or tee martin years. yes. 9 or 10. maybe you misunderstood my post though. maybe there weren't that many gimme games, but there were definitely 9 or 10 games a season in that era that we should not lose. maybe that clears up what i was trying to say.

i just feel sorry for abbott and chiles comeing that close to winning one there senior year and letting it slip away like they did

Chiles played on a torn ACL. Those 2 wanted it bad, it's a shame that the rest of our team didnt take advantage of the opportunity.

I definitely agree with that. And in the mid 90s, there were a couple of years where there were probably 6 or 7 "gimmes" on the schedule during those years when we'd play 1 or 2 non-conference patsies and Vandy, Kentucky, SC and Georgia all sucked at the same time.

yeah

You may be being too hard on your Vols. Could it be that everyone is just getting better? :dunno:

That's kind of how I see it. Whether it's Ole Miss against Florida, or Vandy against Tennessee, the are NO automatics in the SEC.

sure everybody is getting better. there's no doubt about that. but ut has definitely lost alot of fire in the last several years.

Kelly Washington played minor league baseball until he was around 23, then realized he was never going to hit 300 in the minors and decided to give football a try. Don't blame him for going early to the NFL he was racing father time.

ok well it was probably his first time playing football in 5 years, and he tore it up right away. It's funny Droski's acting like because O'Neil was a JUCO player, he won't do crap, but he listed several true freshman players that made an impact. I can't see what he's trying to imply here.

i'm not saying that at all. Our second WR hawkins came from the same juco program oneil did and he is a good WR. Every single one of those true freshman players I listed didn't make a huge impact his first ever game. I'm not saying oneil stinks, just that to expect him to do what your WRs did last year in his first div-1a game for tenn seems rather unrealistic. AND that the type of player who would rip it up his first game you would think would have made an impact as a freshman on a team. That is all i am saying. I was fanning the flames a little certainly, for that I apologize. edit: and there are exceptions to every rule and I would say a 23 year old would be that exception (i.e the baseball player you were talking about).

I just don't think that Cal is that good in the front 7. The Vols pushed them around last year when they had good veteran players. Now Cal has lost what good talent they had. It will be even harder for Cal to deal with Tennessee's O-Line this year.

Also remember that Tennessee usually plays very well in its first game. The Vols are certainly talented enough to easily beat Cal if they come out firing on all cylinders.

we pushed cal around last year, and we were one of the softest teams in the SEC in my opinion

our toughness was a main priority in spring practice. im hoping our lineman are ready. im concerned with our DTs at the moment. No one has really proven themselves. We will see this fall.
