That’s how it is. That’s why I believe a 64 team tournament isn’t a good determining factor for best team in the country. It’s entertaining for sure, but one team with a hot shooting night and you’re out.Basketball is such a funny game - as a fan you go from thinking “this could be a final four team” to “wow, a bad matchup and we could get bounced in the first round.”
I’ve never necessarily thought this team was more likely to be a final 4 team than other good teams we’ve had. I just have always thought it’s such a crapshoot, and I had a little more confidence in 2018, 2019 , and even 2007 team to make it. I will think that 2007 team would have won the whole thing had they closed to the deal against OSU until the day I die.Basketball is such a funny game - as a fan you go from thinking “this could be a final four team” to “wow, a bad matchup and we could get bounced in the first round.”
Im sick of bearing every game how highly rated our defense is. And you’re watching your team get manhandled. I would trade great defense for UKs offense any day.We have a player show out on offense and instead of being acknowledged by the head coach, he's practically chastised. Coach says above player needs to get others involved more. I wonder if tennessee basketball even practices offense. Or when the players want to practice shooting or practice free throws then they have to hang out in the gym and do it AFTER practice.
When there are literally two people (DK and ZZ) who have the balls to shoot on offense it is VERY easy to stop Rick Barnes 1/2 court offense. The screens and cuts seem almost nonexistent from Barnes prior teams, almost less movement and forcing man to man to get Knecht shots off…extremely frustrating to watch Tennessee play weak defense too, cripples the offense. No matter the match-up if JJ and Vescovi continue to play this poorly on offense we aren't going very far. I mentioned this earlier in the season and was told I didn't know what I was talking about. This team could win it all if they played like they did two years ago. For whatever reason they both have regressed offensively and it's killing this team.
We’ve already played them twice so by the seeding rules it couldn’t be before the bracket semi finals (elite 8), so that would mean MSU had already won 3 games against teams likely seeded higher than them.Anyone want to make a bet that MSU gets in now and is placed in the UT bracket for ratings?
Nah the NCAA would never do that to UT. UT and NCAA are such friends these days.
