I just did a coaching hot board a while ago, but I’ve been actually looking into up and coming coaches, as well as just coaches who I think would fit if we were to get rid of Donovan.my number one option, which is also probably the least likely, but you have to contact him, and that’s mike Budenholzer. His style would fit russ (and pg) perfectly. He likes to run after every made basket on d, and his teams usually have GREAT spacing. One drawback is he likes a 5 out offense, which would not be ideal unless Adams developes a perimeter game. His early offense is very effective, and he runs simple sets to get great shots. Doesn’t take a bunch of pin downs, ball screens, or anything like that. Can also shift his style to fit his personell. So, most likely a 4out 1 in with Adams. His offense in league play this year ranks first with 119 pts at home, and 116 on the road...
The guy who I would call next after mike most likely says no is Ettore Messina. A career record in the EuroLeague at 279-98. Loves the P’n’r which would fit great given how effective ours is with Westbrook and adas (Dennis and Noel too) he believe all 5 players are essential to the P’n’r being successful, wants to give the driver two lanes, and doesn’t do any baseline pick and rolls. Post play is also a staple in his offense (Adams) he wants to pound the pain. His teams just don’t take bad shots,m. Along with all of that, he’s a tough nose, no non sense coach, which is what we need.
And finally, my last option and the least “attractive” of the three, Maurice “mo” cheeks, an okc assistant in 2009-2013, and 2015- present. He was an instrumental asst coach in the 2001 philly finals team. Knows Westbrook, and the team and their strengths and weaknesses. The one major drawback, is well, he’s just not a good head coach. Has a career record of 305-315
