Specifically on the offensive scheme of things.
Are there any teams, college or pro that almost call the same plays, scheme, etc.. than us?
Are they successful? And if they are, why aren't we that successful?
What team should we be comparing ourselves too?
I'd say Notre Dame. They aren't successful and run pretty much the same system. Seems like they always start the season ranked top 15 but for some reason can't ever get it done.
I really think our biggest problem this year was Butch and Debord heard all off season about how we couldn't pass and if we could improve our passing offense we would be serious title contenders. So they worked all off season on the pass game and when the first game came along they wanted to prove we could throw it this year. We totally got away from what made this offense decent in the years past and that was the three headed monster of Dobbs, Hurd, and Kamara and this oline pounding it down the defense's throat. The few times our offense has looked good was when the defense didn't know who was going to get the ball on that play because Dobbs was gashing them, Hurd was gashing them and Kamara was gashing them and then we go with the play action.
For whatever reason they haven't been running Dobbs enough making this offense really predictable. He may look great throwing the ball in practice but when in the game his accuracy is mediocre at best and he will never be a drop back pro style QB. What's gonna piss everyone off is if they start switching the run game up again and doing the play action and we run all over the rest of the teams on our schedule. It will make people wander why we didn't stick with what made us good all season. That's just my observation, I'm a fan just like everyone else.

I still find it hard to believe that this is the same team that put up 38 straight against what was and still is a top 10 defense in the nation in florida
Butch has copied a lot of what Urban Meyer is doing at Ohio State. The Circle of Life drill and black stripes on the helmets were both Meyer creations. Our offense would look similar to theirs if Dobbs was a better down field passer and if our O-line was better. Our offense should look like it did in the aTm game. We use our receivers to draw the defenders deep and spread them out. This creates confusion and opens up short and mid range passes. Dobbs has always done a horrible job of checking down to the RB tho. Our offense goes to hell when the O-line gets owned by a 4 man rush like it did against SCAR and App State.
