I Have spent several hours reading this morning. Getting beyond all the authoritarian personalities posting the obvious. I find myself more concerned with "How" this team responds, the net results on recruiting and the coaching authority that will facilitate these things.

1) Team response. Personally I beleive this will cause (force) this team to be focused. Because they know the whole Sports world and beyond will be watching and expecting the worst end result.

2) Coaching Authority. From what I have read this morning 2 of the 3 are all most certainly gone, with one (possibly) returning next year. The same Coaching Authority that will send these players packing is the same authority that will pull this team together with equal measure of hammer and helping hand.

3) Recruiting. One word opportunities. Recruits who play these positions will see the opportunity for early playing time. The perception that something special is happening at UT will not be affected overtly in the recruiting area. This will also send a powerful message to young men who sign here that these type things will not be tolerated. Which in turn gets us a more focused, determined, well rounded player.

Summary. It has happened move on. Be the team that perseveres.

What are your perceptions in these 3 areas?

GO VOLS.

Agree.

1. This will be just another chance to prove the national media wrong.

2. Those guys will be gone and they should be.

3. This won't change much. Like you said if anything it will bring in better all-around players.

I agree with your points in general. But I worry about a negative reaction in recruiting. Players' mommas and grandmommas won't be high on sending them off to UT if more incidents like this occur.

Agree. But I doubt we win on the road now. Replacing starters in game 10 against an SEC opponent with a talented QB with talented players around him. Many people in the preseason considered the Rebels Heisman/Title contenders. Regardless if they have not lived up to that or not, it means the kids have at least talent and direction as to how to win regardless. I went from super positive about a W, to now not wanting to watch I feel so disgusted.... The players that are on our team doing the right thing need to be supported though, and will need to step up bigtime! But THERE WILL BE BETTER DAYS in the future, and Signing Day/Next year couldn't come any sooner!! (Not to sound like a Cub fan.)

Can't stress it enough. You can't make drive-by decisions, and no one in this athletic department will. Get ALL of the facts about what happened, interview the players, talk to families and others involve din UT athletics, then proceed accordingly. Don't expect anything from Lane today other than "We are investigating the matter, but have nothing else to tell you today."

I remember something happening in Meat Market where some players got in trouble but I forget how it was handled by the coaches does anyone remember? That could probably give us a guide as whats in store for these 3 players.

I believe the coaching staff will shield the team from the media and get them on their way to Oxford early Friday. They will meet with the team and get them focused on Ole Miss.

The three players are probably already suspended pending investigation before a final decision is made on their futures at UT.

When the punishments are handed down, I believe the parents of future recruits will see CLK as a strict but fair coach. I don't worry about long term recruiting after this one incident.

Remember none of these players as been the starter all season. Others have played and contributed as often or more. I really think we win by between 4 and 8 points.

Kiffin will do the right thing. I totally trust his judgement in this area, as he has demonstrateda low tolerance for foolishness since he got here. The folks pointing out how hard he's been on Fulmer's guys haven't been paying attention to the fact that he's not giving anyone special treatment. A large portion of the decision may very well be out of his hands anyway. If the charges are felonies, it'll be a law enforcement issue not an athletic department issue....

It also looks like Mike Hamilton has taken the lead on this, or as you might say sitting point. He either sees it as his area of responsibility or is shielding kiffin and the team. Possibly in the end both.

Don't give up that easy brother.

I believe we will come out Saturday with an "us against the world" mentality. I wouldn't be shocked to see a great emotional start to the game. I just don't know if it will last long enough to get us through.

If handled properly, it could actually HELP recruiting, showing parents this type of behavior will not be tolerated.
