The players were informed yesterday of the team meeting. That was before Muschamp turned down the TN offer. We are betting that DeRuyter has accepted the Texas position.

If the sob brings the option, ............................................................................

Middle Tennessee State would be a better option to watch!

He would probably do well recruiting clean-cut, wholesome kids to the program. That said, that's not exactly our recruiting demographics.

Calhoun isn't the sexy pick but he!! I don't know at this point. We are going into an unknown with him other than he does have NFL experience. Mixed emotions about all the candidates.

My friend is a ticket holder for Air Force and he called a couple buddies at the academy. Buzz is that he is staying in Colorado Springs. Kippy is to meet with Hamilton this evening. WM was 1st choice and if he didn't work out, Kippy was option 2 after Hamilton made the rounds. Supposedly with KB, the contract would be low enough that UT would be able to make a move in the near future should key candidates become available. Apparently he would be the permanent (interim) head coach.

He coached at Houston Texans and Denver Broncos in NFL. They don't run options.

He hasn't used the option anywhere else he's been; I think coaches are almost forced to use it to have any success at the military schools.

I'd take Calhoun over Cutcliffe. No offense to Cutcliffe, because I think he's a good football coach. I just think Calhoun might be able to offer more, and for a longer period of time.
He's a good coach guys. He might not be the sexy name, but he finds ways to win with minimal talent. Just think about what he'll be able to do once he is able to recruit with our facilities and name.
I understand the reluctance to be excited about this hire, but I think he'll do well.

If Calhoun comes it does not mean the option comes with him. You run an offense that reflects the level of talent and type of players you have. He has a pro style offense in his NFL background. He changed to give his players a better chance to win.

you guys are nuts. Calhoun is a great coach with great experience...do some research on the guy and get more information on him other than the WAC conference and running the Flexbone offense.

Finally someone with a clue....You guys burning the man because he runs the option don't have a clue. You need to stick with watching girl football (nfl). Your probably the same people who think florida runs the spread when it is in fact the single wing.
Right now its Cuts to turn down, and thats a fact.

That would be the worst possible outcome because it would put recruiting in flux every year. Either make him the permanent head coach or don't.

Calhoun is a good coach. He beat Notre Dame in South Bend in 2007. The score was 41-24. Last time we went into South Bend, we got bombed. Get it out of your heads that you have to have a "big name" hire. Thats just PR BS!!

Football is more than just the HC. Its who you have underneath you and can you manage those people. It is also the ability to turn raw talent into a cohesive unit.

Gruden- what has he done? If he was worth his salt, he would still be employed in the NFL.

Patterson- Weak conference and weak schedule. Got beat outside that safety zone

Muschamp- making a name under the shadow of Brown and Texas hotbed of recruits. Plus weak schedule.

I don't care if he runs the option or not - it's not a very big hire and our recruiting class is going to crumble. We are going to be starting walkon O-linemen for years now. Zach Fulton just decommited as well. We have no linemen. And atleast 5 recruits have said they won't play for Calhoun as well as current players.

I'm beginning to love the Calhoun choice. This guy knows every offense around and some defense. Plus a Military grad. He?? people, we need a coach today!

I would welcome Calhoun. He seems like a very smart person and would be probably be very excitied to be here. I also welcome the discipline that he would bring to the team.
