Team Meeting Confirmed

Rewatched the game last night, wasn't as terrible as first seen.

Did notice that the game turned when JG didn't see the blitz, he was at 4 full seconds before the hit. Way too much time.

Then, our next O possession, we allow bum rush up the middle and the defender plowed through the RB and into JG for sack.

Then, next snap interception into double coverage when he had the RB to check down to in the middle for around 7......when he had been checking down all day.

The throw to Wood Anderson should have been a bomb and TD, he double clutched it and under threw it.

Now, JG ain't our only problem, isn't the sole reason we lost. But, he did factor into a few very important scenarios that see the game turn out differently.

3 turnovers resulted in 17 points. We threw down field for a big attempt 2 times. We abandoned the run in the second, they dominated with long sustained drives.

It was a game we blew, the coaches and players just were not fighting for it at the end of the game when it was winnable.

Hopefully we win this weekend.

Georgia State owned both sides of the line of scrimmage. That should never happen. That is absolutely as terrible as it could possibly be.

Never said they didn't, we knew our lines were weak.

However, we were in the game, and could have won it.

Scoring a TD in garbage time to make the game look closer than it really was is not "in it." There was only a chance of winning in the academic sense.

Pruitt and Fulmer have destroyed this once-proud program.

As if we haven’t been destroyed for going on a decade now. Obviously, this means Pruitt and Fulmer in one season (and 1 game) caused our program to crumble.

we knew our lines were weak.

There's "weak" and then there's lines dominated by Georgia State weak. Two different balls of wax. I fully anticipated that our lines were going to be weak, I didn't anticipate they were going to be dominated by a Sunbelt team coming off a 2-10 year. That should not be possible at Tennessee.

No reason to be overly-dramatic. Losing to Georgia State is dramatic enough in itself.

We had the lead midway through the 4th quarter and even after losing the lead, we were "in it" until the Ellington TD run with less than 5 minutes on the clock.

Up until 5 minutes into the 4th (no matter how bad it was up till then) we were in it (in it does not constitue in any way, manner, shape, or form that we were good, doing ok, just by the score line), then fumble lost, interception back to back possessions. Pathetic offensive and defensive play last 10 minutes allowed the game to be lost in the W L column. We all agree it is without description how bad the entirety of the showing was.

Maybe Jennings took control and and called out who needed it. Jennings attitude is what we need our team to have along with the coaches.

I would love to know who arranged this meeting and who led it. Was it Jennings? if so, i hope he chewed butts cause it doesn't appear like Pruitt is

“I made them a promise, we have a few guys playing the right way and doing all the right things. I promise you I’ll recruit 25 other guys that will play the right way so we don’t have to play in another game like this,” Pruitt said.

Interesting.

(anyone) How many players has he recruited/signed since that quote?

And, (after having a full spring-summer-fall practice period) did the GAST game show any semblance of fulfilling (even 1/2) of that promise?

Why do HC's make such promises public?

That quote may be what all of this is about. There has been a divide and I think this is where it originated from. While I don’t disagree AT ALL, embarrassing your players on national TV may not have been the way to get this point across.

at the meeting, hopefully they discuss why the players were flat and overconfident against lowly georgia state.

Everyone knows most of the team needs to recruited over, but yeah, making that comment on national tv at the half wasnt smart. Dude was thinking using his emotions and not his noggin. So I'm not surprised they dont respond well. Imagine what he says in private to them..
Great Post. There were so many snafus from Pruitt last year I almost forgot about this one. I would bet that these players realize that Pruitt is so far over his head that there is zero respect for him on that team. If the fans can see it you know the players see it.

1985 - I would be shocked if they played to their potential. For some reason the players hate Pruitt. These kids just can't stand this guy. I have never seen anything like this in sports.
That is absolute nonsense

Our d line will get demolished by SEC offenses. The d line got blown 3 yards off the ball every single play. It wasn't this bad under Dooley and Butch, and Dooley pretended the defensive line didn't exist in recruiting, how does a d line get that bad?

HIS job, his job, to find a way to recruit and motivate those players to see his vision. Watched Jimbo Fisher talking to his team this morning on the SEC network, night and day between what we see. He and Mack Brown could sit around whining about the players they inherit, but they're winners, they've gone out and motivated the players they have AND they are recruiting like mad too.
Mack Brown won 1 game each of his first two seasons at North Carolina..... where was that winner then?

How does this staff allow this to happen? Did the coaches have a "coaches only" meeting to try and figure out the bone-head decisions THEY made during the game?

I've become numb to it all. Imagine being in jail and being the pretty one.....go to another place.

Jail scenario........................ similar to UT games for the last decade.

Being a life long Bengals fan also makes it somewhat easier, trained to accept mediocrity.

Problem was being born a VOL, and being on campus in the best days of our program 95-99.

Same here. Lifelong Vol fan dating back to the early 80s and spent time on campus around the same time as you.

Lifelong Red Sox fan and suffered through it since before Buckner as well.

Unlike the Red Sox, I am afraid the Vols have seen their best run already and aren't willing to spend to get back to the glory days. They keep paying top 25 salaries for bargain bin unproven talent.
