I can't help myself. Fulmer has just over and over and over done things IMO to point fingers at everyone but himself. Even when it has seemed like he's saying he needs to do more, it was always couched in terms of someone else not meeting expectations.
When I saw this thread -- that apparently Fulmer didn't even go in and personally tell the players about this before letting it rip and get on ESPN, it just seemed to me to validate my impression of him, which is that he scapegoats the nearest target.
I've just never had much respect for him, especially not the last 4-5 years. And I know everyone on here wants to be all PC and what not and slap the guy on the back with an "'atta boy," but the truth is that Fulmer more than any other person out there is the reason why you are where you are right now.
Its easier for me to say that from the outside looking in. But my personal guess is that "good riddance" is the thought more Vol fans have right now than any other. Even if they can't bring themsevles to say it.
You can say "good riddance" and still appreciate that he is the reason we're so bad right now, just like he's a big part of the reason we created the expectations we did that make it so miserable right now.
I think most of us are happy as hell to finally see him out and would love to help him pack, but at the same time, pretending that the man is a piece of crap is just sad.
We're living in the age instant notification of everything, through text messaging, Facebook and MySpace updates, etc. etc. etc. I find it hard to believe that a bunch of modern kids who've grown up with that could possibly be that broken up that a formal meeting with them wasn't held before the news leaked out into the world.
An announcement is planned for Monday afternoon at Neyland Stadium. Fulmer, who has won 150 games at his alma mater and is the dean of SEC coaches, met with Tennessee officials Monday morning, and they reached a mutual agreement that it would be best for all parties if Fulmer did not return next season.
Sadly, with the tie ins,the SEC will likely have 3 teams at 6-6..totaling at most 9 eligible teams and 9 possible slots if we hasve 2 BCS teams..and not enough teams to fill them...Yes ,they will go bowling at 6-6..if they make iti hope thats not the case but what are they supposed to do? pull everybody out of class to tell them fulmer wont be back, its not like he got fired and we need an interim coach. the players hopefully feel a lil of this is their fault and put it together and close the season out strong and hopefully get to a bowl game. 6-6 does not guarantee a bowl game by the way
Fulmer committed career suicide when he hired Dave Clawson. That guy has no buisness coaching in pee wee football, much less the SEC.
Why in the hell did he flip our O-Line around?? Can anyone answer why he did that?
What good did that do?

The fact that you ask shows your ignorance of the genius of the man and his system. He was educated at Williams, coached at Fordham, Villanova and Richmond where he was used to coaching players as intellegent as himself. It's a shame that he landed at a place whose players and fans don't have the ability to understand what he teaches. Maybe when Bobby Johnson takes the Clemson job, Clawson will go to Vanderbilt so he can beat your sorry asses on a routine basis.
