At the end of the season if we had a chance to play in the big game, what team would you most like to have a crack at?

1.USC(west)
2.West Virginia(shut them up)

Given the quality of their defense, WVU would have to score in the mid 50s to beat UT by 17.
Given the quality of our run defense, especially against any form of option, WVU could most likely put 50 on us.

y cause he is white? forget that if ainge can catch castille then karl can get slaton

Because, while I haven't seen much of WVU, I did watch Slaton hang 195 and two TDs on Maryland earlier in the year. Sure, it was Maryland, but Slaton has Willie Gault caliber speed. That is tough to game plan.

I think we could win. they are overated and play one team all year.

To a certain extent yeah they are overated but...Im sure thats what uga thought right before the sugar bowl last year.

I much rather play Usc. We match up better, and we could show Patrick Turner what school he should have gone to.

Ditto. Also, it would be great to spank another west coast team. Playing and beating USC would be great for recruiting the west coast and nationally. I don't see as great of upside beating WV.

Had Georgia shown up to play at the beginning of the game, rather than waiting till after halftime, the dogs would have won by 4 TDs. I don't think UT would take them lightly after seeing UGA's mistake last year.

Speed is an issue for UT? What am I missing here! I would love the opportunity to get WV in a bowl game. It would be sweet.

I wouldn't want any part of West Virginia... let someone else deal with that.

I would feel fairly confident against someone like USC, Texas, or Notre Dame if that was to be the bowl matchup.

Tidwell, you are a very wise man indeed.

IMHO, WV would put a whuppin on us. Schedule strength aside, they are an offensive juggernaut.

I would looooooove to play notre dame.

Okay, I'm officially done posting for the night. This board is heroin-like addictive.

I don't think so. Not even close. UT would beat WV long before beating USC.

Incorrect. It's not that WVU has better athletes, its that style of option they run. We'd have a tough time stopping them. I don't think we'd lose by 17, but it'd be a high scoring, close contest.

Don't forget the way Georgia was able to shut them down in the second half of the Sugar Bowl. They aren't unstoppable. If the dogs had played that way the entire game, it could have been a Mountaineer beatdown. Our defense isn't as good as UGA's was last year, but our offense is potent. We'd score quite a few points on any Big East defense. West Virginia would be capable of giving us a good game, but I definitely don't think we would receive a "whuppin".

As for me, I'd love to play Texas. They are pretty overrated right now, and Colt McCoy isn't mobile enough to give us fits when his pocket breaks down.

Correct. The game would be decided by us stopping Pat White and Steve Slaton or them stopping Robert Meachem and Jayson Swain. It would be a shootout. However, WVU has struggled with some pretty crappy teams. It's not inconceivable that we lay it on them.

Exactly. The more I think about it, its more probable we would whip them than them whipping us. However, I'd be about 80% confident it'd come down to the last play.

Aren't their uniforms somewhat similar to Cal's? If so, it would be easy for the Vols to revert back to beatdown mode.
