Team Cancers

What is the purpose of this thread? I don't see anything good that come from posting rumors about players being "cancerous" or bad teammates.

Butch Jones! Smokey grey, rap music in Neyland!!! People standing up and yelling in my ears when I stand up to see what happened, 6-7 all time at Tennessee. Ron Zook clone with his recruiting and coaching style!

Darick, Casey Clausen was before the uga game, can't remember exactly what year but he stated he could beat them with one hand tied behind his back and we got beat down. Lane Kiffin was a cancer as was Derek Dooley.

Just because someone gets kicked off a team doesn't mean they were a cancer.

How about saying in front of your teammates you don't give a **** about making it to a bowl game the week/day of the game that Tennessee loses to Kentucky (ending 26 game win streak) with a WR at QB?

You for real? Butch is in the process of bringing our program back to relevance and represents our university very well. The players like the smokey gray, rap music, and when people get up and yell. They're the ones that put in the work and make the biggest sacrifices for our program, so if that's what they want, then so be it. Dooley stuck to traditional colors, didn't pipe in a bunch of rap music, and people weren't standing up and yelling loud because there wasn't much to cheer about. That's a cancer! Look at the shape he left our program in. We even lost to Kentucky for crying out loud. That 6-7 record you speak of is compliments of what Dooley left us with talent wise. No talent and depth kind of makes it hard to win in the SEC. Tennessee is on its way back, and if Butch is a cancer, then cancer must be contagious because it's spreading across Rocky Top! You gotta be kidding!

Yeah, forgot about Rogers. Clausen fiasco was in 03 and the next year is when he had to eat his crow!

Pickens was certainly one of the greatest athletes to ever don the Big Orange. He has a bit of a 'tude but don't remember any serious issues.

Sal Sunseri was like an acute myocardial infarction to our defense 2years ago. No defibrillator available. Complete flatline every week.

Sal Sunseri was like committing suicide by jumping from a tall building but dying of cardiac arrest halfway down. He was such a failure he would fail at suicide.

Some people just don't realize how hard it is not to be cocky when you're a world class athlete and SEC football royalty. Got to put yourself in that dude's shoes for a second, and then realize that most anyone in that position would think highly of themselves.

Pickens, Carter, Thompson, Kelly, Hobby, Howard, and a slew of others from that time and era. They were all tops!

Jamal Lewis fits this description. He was an urban Atlanta drug running gangster whose team performed better after he was on the DL. Eventually made it to the big house. Fortunately the team had real leaders at that time to radiate his malignancy.

Bray was most definitely not a cancer. Lumping him in there is a travesty.

He was a guy who gave up on Dooley, and I really don't blame him. Majority of Volnation gave up on Dooley after the 2012 Florida game

Was thinking about the TT post yeaterday and it's got me thinking about Bray and Kelly Washington as cancers on the team. Was Carl Pickens like that also? I want to say if not the majority of the '99 team had bad attitudes of "me" attitudes who else have we had that were cancers?

Some members of the '99 team may have approached the Fiesta Bowl vs Nebraska with some complacency and may have been looking ahead to the draft but they certainly don't deserve to be thought of as "cancers". After all, most of them were part of the '98 team as well. Also, Casey Clausen was no cancer either. After the '02 Georgia game he made a comment that boiled down to his opinion that we would have won if he had played which was not an unreasonable suggestion considering that we only lost 18-13 and he made a career out of leading us to road victories. I remember the "Dude with a Tude" SI article about Pickens but I also remember Carl bailing us out in '89 by agreeing to play DB when were desperate for help in the secondary even though he hated it and had been recruited with the understanding that he would just play WR and kick returner. Of the players the OP has mentioned, I would say that only Kelley Washington hurt the team with a selfish attitude but '02 seemed destined to be a disappointing season anyway due to a rash of injuries....JMO, but I think we could do without these kinds of topics.
