Team 121 looks formidable

I think Malone comes back. He's had an OK season, but I think North's example plus the chance to get a little stronger and bulkier with that extra year will help him succeed at the next level. He gets drafted higher if he comes back I think.

Defensive Line: need some young DTs to develop and get bigger and Tuttle to stay healthy. Have to find/develop a speed rusher to replace Barnett
Linebacker: Kirkland & Sapp have to stay healthy. Bituli needs to develop and TK needs to put on 10-20 lbs and move to LB.
Defensive backfield: Have to get more speed back here. Warrior & Evan Berry need to develop and Jennings needs to go here. At corner, Byrd would be a huge upgrade. Moseley, Osborn, & Buchanan have shown some promise.

Offensive Line: I'd like to see a new OL coach because these guys regressed this year. If more DTs could be developed, McKenzie would be a great upgrade here. If this group doesn't improve greatly, this team will never reach its potential.
Running Back: Kelly can be special and Fils-Aimee and others need to develop for depth
QB: From what I've seen of Dormady, I sure hope Guarantano is as good as advertised. But, some guys play much better when they know it's their turn (Dormady?). If one leaves SJones will be needed for depth.
WR: Josh Smith is dependable and a leader. Hopefully, Malone returns and Callaway, Latrell Williams, and Johnson develop in Spring so Jennings can play more at safety.

QB and line play on both sides of the ball are keys for this team to produce. They have as good of a shot as any to make it to Atlanta next year. Better get stronger tho with Alabama and LSU on the schedule. Also, not sure who the genius is that thought playing Ga Tech in the opener was a good idea. Look for at least 2 DL to get injured from the cut blocking.

We're gonna miss Dobbs more than anyone thinks we will, there's gonna be a large drop off at that position next year

I noticed you mentioned Austin Smith! I forgot about him. Why is he not playing this year?

I'm not too worried about it. If the next QB can throw and complete at 65% we'll be fine.

The thing that makes our offense dangerous is not Dobbs ability to throw. It's that he's such a dangerous runner teams have to be prepared for that.

We will have a large drop off next year, and people will understand just how much Dobbs meant to our team

Here is the problem though.... The good teams stacked the box vs Dobbs because he couldn't throw.... If we have a slower QB next year, but one that can throw, our offense will be fine.....

Our defense as a whole worries me to be honest, especially up front. I'm not sure who will be moving inside and who's staying out at end, but most of them are unproven or are seemingly injury prone. God knows we'll be missing Vereen and Barnett (and Obrien, but we've been missing him already). Obviously KMac and Tuttle will be solid assuming they stay healthy.

LBs seem to be a mediocre bunch too, outside of Kirkland. Hopefully a couple of them will see some development between now and then.

I'm really excited about Griffin though, if he can stay healthy I feel like we'll actually have a DB that can lay the wood judging by some of the hits he made last weekend. Obviously missing Cam will hurt but I think another that we'll end up wanting back is Foreman. He played pretty good ball this year (got burned several times, sure, but he was one of the more consistent CBs). We'll see how Warrior does, but personally I think he'll be great in the years to come.

As far as the offense, all I can say is that we'll have an unproven, inexperienced QB and only the lord knows how the offensive line will look. I don't see how in the world Malone could declare for the draft without being on anyone's radar, but maybe that's just me. RBs will be questionable in terms of 2 and 3-deep but Kelly will be our go to guy for sure.

The fact is that we won't know what we got until team 121 takes the field next year. And for that very reason, it'll most likely be an interesting off-season.

This offense isn't ranked in the top 25 nationally for any meaningful statistical category that I could find. And we were very close to the bottom of college football in some of those categories. For instance, we are ranked 103rd in overall T.O.P. For a team that is primarily run-first, that is inexcusable. So the stats say that when we do score, we score quickly. It's no wonder the bulk of our injuries were on the defensive side of the ball this year. They were on the field way too much. Our offense hasn't had an identity since Butch arrived here. Even though we've given up a million rushing yards on defense, there's just no way we can judge Shoop's performance here yet.

What's more important? Time of possession or Points per game scored? Cause we're exactly #25 in the country in offensive scoring/points per game. Personally, I'm going with the Points per Game stat.

So, you're banging on the offense for scoring 36.5 ppg while giving the defense a complete pass for being the #98 ranked defense in the country in total defense? And you're doing this because our offense has a low time of possession? Lol. I also don't understand your last sentence.....even though we're giving up a ton of rushing (and passing) yards, you don't think we can judge Shoop's performance? I disagree, I think we can....it's been poor.

The DB's might be worse next year. Everything else looks pretty solid. Medley is ok as long as it's 30 yards or less

40 yards or less. He's 42 of 46 in his career under 40 yards and 100% this year. Over 40, he's absolutely awful (7-23).

I mentioned earlier in the thread I'd heard we have a kicker red shirted whose supposed to pretty good.

Anyone know if that's so? Or did I listen to the uniformed?
