So this guy was a highschool QB right? Anyway we see him back behind the center any during the FL game? I don't wanna see him in for a run only package. Does he have enough arm to complete a pass? I don't think he could hurt us anymore than Crompton has. I really wanted to give Crompton a fair shake and hope that it was the system. But this kid is terrible.

That's a bad idea...he's going to be a good reciever...as bad as Crompton is...he is a better QB than anybody we got right now...

What no one seems to get is the sad fact that Crompton is probably the best we have at the moment. Does anyone actually think that Kiffin would go with him if he had a better option on the team? No way am I defending Crompton. It is painfully obvious that he is the King of Suckage, he is just all we have. Thanks Phil.

exactly. some people act like we have a hidden gem on this team and that's just not the case. until kiffin gets a roster where most of the qbs are guys he recruited, we're going to have issues under center no matter who starts

I'm not defending Crompton, the kid has a problem with making good decisions in a hurry, but like Kiffin said, our O-line didn't exactly play a stellar game. I haven't rewatched the game, but speaking from memory I seem to recall quite a few defenders coming free and unblocked into the backfield, nearly on every play...

I don't think anyone is suggesting there is a hidden gem on the team better than Crompton, but there certainly are more options at QB in given situations. There seems to be agreement that we have a relatively weak offensive line (especially relative to pass protection) and that Crompton does not perform well under pressure. If these are true, then why have him run every single play which gives the advantage to the defense? This year, unfortunately, to be more productive on offense we need to mix it up. Put Teague or Nukeese in the shot gun formation every once in a while; put Stephens or Lamaison (or Teague/Nukeese) out wide with a quick screen pass option. In other words, do anything but the obvious. If the defense is allowed to blitz and pass protect against Crompton, and stack the line against a run, they are going to win out most of the time.

I agree with you but I can't help but wonder "what if" Kiffin would've just given Tahj Boyd a scholarship so we would at least have an option back there. I know we have Nick Stephens but after that, who? It just sucks to think that Crompton is the only person suited to play that position.

Did I say I wanted to see him back there for an entire game? All I am asking is if we can throw a wrinkle or two in there just to kinda throw them off. I don't expect Teague to be moved to a full time qb. I wouldn't mind seeing him back in at qb some and instead of it always being a run situation that we hit them with a pass.

Please help me understand WHY N. Stephens isn't as good or BETTER than J. Crompton? So far Crompton has 5 INTs in 54 Attempts (1 INT every 10+ attempts); in 2008 N. Stephens had 3 INTs in 130 Attempts (1 INT in every 43 Attempts).

N. Stephens may not have the arm that Crompton does, but statistically, he makes fewer mistakes. Comments?
