Teague transfering?!?!?

Why hate on Henry Co High School?... I grew up in Paris, Tn, attended HCHS, played several sports, and graduated with a 3.5 GPA... Nobody gave me anything, I worked hard and earned it... An education, wherever you go, is what you make of it... If Teague is smart enough to learn a playbook in major college football, he's smart enough to pass entry level courses at UT... I went there too... If it's because of academics, it isn't because he went to "HCHS"... It's because he didn't apply himself...

If Im not mistaken, Teague is like National Honor Society smart, highly doubt its for academics

Sorry for the misunderstanding. What I read wasn't because he was failing but more like he's transferring to Vandy for better academics.

...or he could do what Brent Schaeffer did. Leave TN, go to a junior college, and then go to Vandy.

Marsalis was a quarterback, receiver and defensive back for my old high school, Henry County. He played receiver his first two years, quarterback his last two and safety all four.

His mama, Lola, seems to think there's an excellent chance he will be moved to corner even though he played safety in high school.

No rumors at all in Paris about Marsalis transferring and you'd think in a small town with only a few local sports heroes (his cousin, Dominique Allen is a fullback/big tailback for LSU) gossip would be everywhere here as soon as he even thought of transferring...

Just my two cents.

Agreed...I am also hearing nothing about this locally.

point is that barring a miracle our oline is going to be suspect at best. Peyton and ainge both had good lines infront of them and shell of alot more talent around them. No one is going to really shine at qb next year.

I dont really know what other QBs we have on our roster. Who can step in there this year? Some people will say that the good thing about a freshmen is that they will be sophmores the next season. Maybe that is the route we have to take. Barkley did pretty good as a freshman, will only get better the next 3 years. Sometimes you have to throw some into the fire and see how they do. Manning and I think it was stevens took their lumps their freshman year. The rest is history on that regard. I am a firm believer in that if ya got someone young that has the same ability as the older guy, lean on the young one to get experience. But we might have someone in the mix that has waited for his shot. I would have thought that id seen him by now however.

+1

Throw Stephens to the wolves early. No way the starting UT QB will get through the 2010 season uninjured. Don't need one of the young QBs in a sling all fall.

Lol tough, but probably true. Unless Chaney can get that clock in the qbs head to say, about 2.5 seconds( a la cut's version of ainge), they are going to take alot of hits. A lot.

Here's what I envision. I hope Chaney opens things up a little more this year. Maybe have Teague in the slot. I thought he did a great job running some of those type routes last year early in the season. I think he just fell out of favor for some reason with special K later in the year. Purdue was wide stinkin open under Brees. Picture this in passing situations: Top 2 WRs split out wide, Teague in slot, Oku or Brown for flares out of the back field or screens, Bray in shotgun. TTTTOOUUCCCCHHHHDDDOOWWWWWN, BIG ORANGE!
I also like our running game alignment in the proset: Top WRs wide, that good TE(cant think of the name right now), and Brown or OKu behind one of those hard nosed FBs, Bray under center. What yall think?
I know looks can fool you, but, he appears to need time at the training table and in the weight room. Arm strength and get some meat on his bones. Great potential, however.

What the Brees reference tells me is that there is a good chance for Nance to start this year. Both underrated qb's, both academic natl. honors, both were true dual threats in HS (brees had over 500 yards rushing sr year at purdue), both saw their best wr break state rec yards records their sr year..... Chaney has something in mind for Nance. He didn't just want him so we could get Rogers. Also, I don't know why everybody thinks a freshman qb that starts in the sec is a death wish???? I can think of several guys prove that to be false.

Nance really intrigues me.

Chaney knows QBs and could have had a big role in turning Cromp Daddy.

Drew Brees is pretty good right and our man Chaney helped develop him into something special.

This thread is absoulte garbage and should be deleted. Marsalis is one of my good friends and let me tell you about him right quick. He's an extremely smart kid who goes to class and works hard on his academics, he knows you can't play forever. also, at first he was friends with nuke, it was one of the first people he met in visiting florida before he ever even thought about tn, so it was a familiar face. But, once nuked started getting into trouble marsalis got away from him, because he has way too much respect for himself, his family, and Tennessee to get into some crazy nonsense. And finally the transferring issue. at first he was mad as hell when lane bolted, because lane came into his living room and sold him on the idea of family and obviously family didn't mean too much to lane, but it means everything to marsalis, and marsalis has a new family of brothers in k-ville that he's not gonna leave. He's true big orange.

From what I hear it is true. I heard this last week and someone said that it was for academic reasons but I think you have got to let him stay.

If it is for academic reasons then he should not be retained at the UNIVERSITY of Tennessee. He should be able to work hard and redeem himself this term and in the summer though. There are plenty of easy courses for freshmen... I'm going to call BS on this though. I just don't believe it.

I really hope you are right. Sounds like a great young man....and one that would be much better off under Dooley. We are all better off with Dooley at the helm.

Saw this posted on another site. Just wanted to check with VN to confirm or deny.

The guy mentioned Teague in his comment and had "(possibly transfering)" beside his name.

Somebody tell me this is not true!!!!

Have a fail burger!
