TBA Student Seating

I will add that this season, for some reason, the student section hasn't been as loud or excited as they have been the 2 years prior.

I think students expect us to win. They take that as "It doesn't matter, we'll win anyways."

I think that idea is bull****.

OK, here is my next question, are there any other lower arena seats for students than the ones behind the basket?... I have been to many UT bball games but none at TBA... making the first trip to TBA against Kentucky

the section to the right of the section under the basket is all students, but those seats fill up faster than anything because they're seats and not stands

I just think that the simplist thing to do is to have students behind each basket, that way, the big doners do not lose their season tickets along the sidelines.

No. :banghead2::banghead2::banghead2::sick::sick:

If we are ever seen as something like the Cameron Crazies please shoot me.

You're right let's not be like the best students in college basketball. Let's just keep it how is, where we act like we don't give a rat's ass.

I agree. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to be like the Cameron Crazies. No one wants to play there.

Don't get me wrong I hate Duke and the Cameron Crazies, but they do know how to do basketball you have to admit.

If UT designates behind both baskets as student sections, with enough promotion, I would guarentee that we fill the seats. I just don't understand some people's mind... Tennessee is #2 in the nation, the highest in school history, and the students are apart of it. Go to the games and enjoy it, your only a student once and not many people have the chance to cheer for a national championship contending team.

They are a bunch of pimply white kids with absolutely 0 idea of what is happening in the game.

Agreed 100%.

I go to every game I can. Sometimes work gets in the way.

As for the subject, we need to kick the geesers along the sidelines out and move the student section there like every other college.

I'm not one of those old 'geezers', I had to buy my season tickets on eBay; however, thank goodness we have such loyal old 'geezers'!! Who do you think sticks with UT basketball in good times AND bad? They are the reason we are able to afford great coaches and top notch facilities, which attracts good players - all the things we have that's gotten us to the #2 team in the country!

The fact that we're good right now is the reason this thread is even on here. When we're not so good, the students couldn't care less where they sit because they aren't there - physically or financially. The 'old geezers' you want to move were, and always will be there to support the rebuilds finacially. You can't reward their loyalty by making the money seats a student section that will be mostly empty in down years.

The reason we can afford coaches, etc.... is from the 105,000 that show up to Neyland 7 times a year. Not to mention the money we get from the BCS every year. The 5,000 real attendance in basketball we had during Buzzball didn't.

Not to mention these Students tuition is absurdly more than what you're paying for your season tickets. The University is here for STUDENTS.

If you're paying more in tuition than the donors have to cough up to get prime seats, you're flat getting ripped off.

Seen the rates of tuition lately? All students are big donors these days.

Without the school there would be no athletic department.

I agree completely with your students-first, university-first stance, but the sad, real-world truth is that the UT athletic department is basically run as though it's an independent business that subcontracts out to the school and licenses the use of its trademarks. When Mike Hamilton looks at the student section, he sees comp tickets that his company has to give away for free.
