Josh- I totally agree with you. I am completely in favor of student seating being first come- first served. The lottery for football seat assignment is not a policy put in place by athletics although I certianly understand the rationale for it.
For basketball we do need to implement some sort of admission opt-in or voucher pick up etc with some sort of 3 or four day day before the game cut-off so that we can ensure a full house. I think such a plan can be designed and implented so that a student has to "opt-in" either electronically or by picking of a general admission ticket, but then the seating at the game would be first come first served.
We will be working with SGA to figure out the best way to accomplish all this.
