The Bottom Line:

Tennessee fans deserve better.

Nothing personal against Derek Dooley but Tennessee fans just deserve better. This guy literally hasn't beaten anybody in three years of being here. And he's not showing any signs of beating anybody any time soon. That's just the truth. And if I'm in that administration, I'm getting my list ready. The thing you have to ask yourself about Dooley is this. Can I win a league title with this guy as my coach? If your answer to that question is yes, then you've got your guy. If you your answer is no, then go out and find somebody who makes you answer that question in the affirmative. I've had very little faith in Dooley to be that guy because I know what goes on behind the scenes. And believe me, it's not pretty. Here's the deal with this guy. He's not a winner. And he's not a leader. His kids don't respond to him in the moment. He can't catch a break. I hate it for him because it's on our dime. But again, this isn't personal. This is fact. Dooley's just about OK for this job. But you know what, UT fans need somebody who's perfect for the job.

When your fan base loses its hope, nothing is worse. And right now, this place is hopeless. Talk to anybody who owns a sports bar or restaurant around here. Ask them what the crowd was like Saturday night. People don't want to get out and watch this because it's hopeless.

I can argue with those statements.

Dooley is not "just about OK for this job." His record overall, in the SEC and versus ranked would barely be acceptable at Vandy or Kentucky. His record isn't OK at any school that cares about winning anything of any value.

And I can't feel bad for Dooley. If he gets fired at the end of this year he'll have made $10,000,000 for doing basically nothing.

Poor Dooley. I agree with you though. I love Dooleys character but his coaching is just un acceptable. I wish he was the guy for the job because i like the fella. Maybe we can get Saben and let bama have Dooley.

With every losing season the expectations get lower and lower, a portion of the fan base was actually excited about what they saw against UGA.

For whatever reason a loss to MSU has opened the eyes of some, the next two games will destroy any support that remains.

On defense, Tennessee is unwatchable. And if you’re Dooley, your job was to get the right guy. And Sal Sunseri is NOT that guy. And don't give me this 3-4 non-sense. His linebackers (his position) are atrocious. And they have some guys on paper who look like they should be able to play. But they can't.

this is the quote that got me, because it is fact. We are not devoid of talent on D by any means. Also, LB is supposed to be Sal's wheelhouse, he should be able to coach em up. Look at what LK did with the Crompton and His OL Coach did with the Sullins boys.

because we have a bunch of quitters for fans.

Ironic

Didn't realize fans could "quit"...

I'm still here. Haven't sold my merchandise. Still travel to the games.

When 40,000 Bama fans invade Neyland Saturday, and they drop as many points on us as they want, it'll just be another reality check.

Worst tackling team I've ever seen.

Not a huge Basilio fan but this matches everything I have heard from anyone who has dealings with the guy. In my business I am only about once removed from dealing with him myself, so I hear this a lot. It seems he has more of a "being a controlled leader" problem than a problem understanding the x's and o's.

This is the problem.

People are content with losing to people now as long as they're ranked. It's okay guys, we can wrap up wins against such stellar opponents as Georgia State and Akron.

Additionally, anyone who thinks Troy, Mizzou and Vandy are gimme games this year are also delusional.

Oh god another quitter and negavol word person. . .

How can you not see that the fans are the ones to blame for this team's performance? If you would just lower your expectations, and develop the patience of a monk, you'd never be disappointed.

This is what blows my mind. Louisiana Monroe didnt care if Ark was ranked, they just went in and got it done. Of course, this requires 4 quarters of football and it takes us 2 games to get in 4 good quarters.

I fully expect this team to roll over after the next two weeks. I'd say a loss in November is almost a guarantee.

I will say that one argument I have with this is the "hasn't beaten anyone and isn't showing signs of beating anyone soon".

That's the opposite of true. Even people that really hate Dooley have to admit all 3 of our losses have been very close, even the Florida game (the score didn't reflect the game and even Florida fans agree to that).

We have shown plenty of signs of winning, just haven't accomplished it yet.
