Tauren Poole (merged)

Every player wants to play. It is completely possible that Poole will get his shot here, but if he doesn't see that happening there is nothing wrong with him transferring out to get play time. As far as I can tell he hasn't been complaining and has thus far never had an issue with discipline. Seems like a decent kid to me.

We want Poole to stay.

We think he's got talent.

We hope success comes to him where ever he is.

Its understandable that he's frustrated for not playing.

But anyone who is not 100% on board with the staff must be let go.

Kiffin has been called a lot of things, but I don't think a totalitarian leader is one of them...

Maybe Poole could have been acting out just because he saw how the Nuke situation played out? Squeaky wheel gets the grease kind of thing....

I hope that is not the case, otherwise that could be a bad precedent.

Until CLK has a 10' back signed sealed and delivered he cannot let Poole go. Despite what some say on here he will be valuable next year unless we have someone to replace him. And think about this, Nuke threw a fit and got in the game. So why not Poole too? Not it is going to happen but precendent was set.

I thought the same thing.

I have no doubt that Kiffin has screwed Poole in his dopey zeal to play "his freshmen" at all costs. It's shameful, really.

Last time I checked, eight freshmen are being RS this year, not counting Toney Williams with a medical RS. If what you say is true, why doesn't Kiffin play them & bench some upperclassmen?

Heather Harrington reported that Poole worked out for about 50 minutes today. Kiffin said he appreciated the fact that kids were upset about playing time, but you can't have the show of emotions that you saw with Poole. That's why he was sent to the showers.

I hope Poole is calmed down and hope he gets his shot this year.

Somebody needs to call the wambulance for Poole. You're lucky to have the chance to play for such a prestigious football team and to wear the colors. Be happy and practice harder and maybe you'll get a shot. I really believe Kiffin is putting the best players out there, I mean look at how much better this team looks then last year with very few depth changes.

Poole needs to be reminded of the Travis' and Hardesty's of Vol history. These were backs with bigger * value coming in then Poole who had to bide their time playing behind even bigger * and talented players (well maybe not in Hardesty's case) and all got their shot their senior years. There's a lot of twists and turns in college ball and there's no gauruntee that he'll be any better off if he transfers.

Work hard and seize the opportunity when it comes your way.

Hopefully, Poole doesn't get mad and transfer. UT needs him to add depth to that position.

It really might be better for him if he got out of here. With our depth at the position (including Williams next year), he wouldn't really be all that missed if he headed for another opportunity.
By the way, VolsRule, I like your avatar. I notice it every time I see it.

I know Tauren and he is a very nice guy. He doesn't seem frustrated when around him, but I am sure he is as I would be too. Maybe it will just make him work even harder and become better. I hope he gets a chance sometime soon.

Poole was in some plays at the WK game wasn't he? he almost broke the last play of the game for a touchdown if I'm not mistaken...

Personally, I'd like to see CLK switch it up just for a game or two, and put Poole in as #2 for a half or so, and give him an opportunity to shine. Poole has shown plenty of ability to break big runs in practice/Spring/Fall camp...in fact, I remember hearing his name in that regard more than BB or Oku.
I would just like to see the staff give the kid half a chance...that way, if he does transfer they can honestly say they tried. I like BB and Oku..but honestly, I think Oku is ahead of Poole to keep him pacified somewhat...and that somewhere in CLK's mind he doesn't feel compelled to do so with Poole, as it's not his recruit and he made no allusions to early playing time.

I personally believe Poole would've broken some big runs by now if he were at least #3.

And that is essentially the last we have sen of him outside of special teams.

He got a concussion in that game missed practice never got his spot back IIRC. Does not matter being ahead of Oku is meaningless. It will matter if brown or hardesty gets hurt. And a reeval is likely if that occurs. If we land a top back none of this matters at all.

I dont think Poole should see the field in front of Brown and Oku. Sorry, but they have more talent and potential. I want Poole for depth, but there is a reason he's fourth on the depth chart, and that will continue next year when we get Williams back.

:cray:
If true, I hate to see him leave. IMO he's a very good player. I guess we have too much talent in the backfield and unfortunately he's not at the top of the list. I wish they could find some way to fit him in somewhere. Like I said, he's good but I guess not good enough to compete with MH, BB and DO. Oh well........good luck to him

R u kidding he did compete and beat them all out check the spring and fall games he had all the long runs have u wondered why UT only has 2 runs over 40 yds, cause the only one that made long runs was poole he is the same style runner as ingram and just as good but UT will never see it. you have to study the pattern when tauren ran the ball to the one kiffin took him out so oku could score(wku),before that tauren had scrimmage games of 8 carries for 155 2 TDS,9cr for 175 tds no one not MH,BB,and DO they cant compete with him The truth is kiffin wont play him because he doesn't want him to out shine brown and oku cause then you'll would demand poole to be on field
