Burning his redshirt is perhaps the dumbest roster move I've seen in a while. Kid had no business being on the field. Still needs a year to learn how to play with the weight.

That is what injuries will do, regardless of what some posters on here think. You do what you have to do to field a team when injuries happen.

If he can continue to add good weight I think he will push for a starting position. He could easily add 15 pounds over the summer to get up to 300. He has a frame where it looks like he could carry 315 or 320 and still look athletic.

Fall camp will be very interesting. Some players who were maybe penciled in to start will not. Kendrick could very easily move into Guard and Robertson is playing well at Center. Maybe Chance Hall gets the redshirt who knows. I do know this this group will help Kelly rack up serious yards this year.

That's why getting players like Blair to be at least emergency back up depth is important. Instead they showed him the door.

Regardless of who starts, all will get plenty PT... two deep depth always a good thing! Go Vols !

Blair was one of the biggest busts ever seen at Tennessee. That is why players you wanted to redshirt sometimes have to play. We need to be thankful that we had a freshman O-lineman who could play better than an AA JUCO OT.

Kendrick aka kerbyson has no business starting at tackle.............bama Florida and Georgia however hope he starts

kerbyson was a quality tackle for us his senior year. he was better suited for guard but he wasnt bad at tackle. Kendrick i dont believe is as good but he provides expierience off the bench. enough to be able to redshirt tatum

Maybe, just maybe we have enough depth this year to redshirt him and the other one or two freshmen OL who burned their Redshirts.

Why redshirt if he is a better player?

A Bust that Butch recruited. Either way Butch is to blame.
And we don't know that he played better since Blair had already left the team. I've not been overwhelmed by the development of Oline while Mahoney was coaching? You play a damn walk on before you waste a redshirt for one game.
It was a waste plain and simple.

I remember when the "Butch is stupid and I know more than him because I watch on Saturdays" crowd said he should start Peterman over Worley. Worley wasn't great, but Peterman sucked in his opportunities. For example
: UF in Butchs first year.

Bottom line: Butch is trying to win. Therefore he puts the players out there he thinks gives UT the best chance. Period.

Anybody claiming otherwise should go a be a head coach and show us measly posters how coaching is really done:thud: otherwise stop accusing butch of failing at his job every time you look back on Monday morning and make the call after you know the result. Butch and any other leader do not have that luxury.

You mean the Peterman that beat Clemson and will likely get drafted into the NFL?

Butch confirmed his problems by turning over his entire staff. He didn't hire well when he got the job and this set him back, plus put him on the hotseat. Had he kept Pittman, the Oline is much better off in personnel and coaching and Butch likely has two appearances in Atlanta.
