Jay and Pat Forde loved Pearl and were all about how great it was the he could enjoy the college life as a coach and get involved and promote basketball, while that idiot Skip Bayless said he was a shame to the game and that it should not have been done. He said if he was a parent of a player he would not let his player play for Pearl and that he was just trying to steal some of the spotlight from a women's program since it is basically the only basketball played at Tennessee. These were not his exact words, but a paraphrase...

Now Dana is all over Skip about how wrong he is and how it was great for basketball and great for Tennessee.

Bayless is truly an idiot!!

Anything that Skip Bayless says concerning anything about the University of Tennessee should be immediately disregarded.

He's a Vandy grad.

can't wait to see PTI and around the horn later today.....

sports talk in Charlotte today has given it plenty of run as well...most all of it has been positive or comical in nature. nothing reallly negative said by anyone yet.

though the packman show this afternoon will likely have varied opinions on the matter.......should be fun to listen to.

Vandy has always had the little brother syndrome and Skip shows it every time he talks about UT or former UT players. Nothing new or surprising.

Well, it was a quick interview. Pearl said that he really enjoyed doing that with a few of his players and something they'll always remember. He said that he didn't think him with his shirt off was a pretty picture, but he'd do anything to support Pat and the LV's.

He said he left when the game started because he didn't want to be a distraction, he just wanted to get the students fired up before the game.

He also said there is nothing he wouldn't do for Tennessee because it's a special place...
And he talked to the powers that be and got it cleared beforehand because he wants to keep his job at Tennessee.

When it comes right down to it, the positives of Pearl's actions outweighs the negatives. I don't see any other college basketball coach being interviewed on Cold Pizza right now..

 exactly. and it's not like he did anything terrible.

in this day and age, with all the bad stuff that get's involved with major sports leagues (MLB steroid issues, NBA fights, NFL drug and guns charges etc, etc, etc.....not to mention all the negatives associated with various college programs out there) it's nice to see some one just putting the "fun" back in sports.

so go ahead BP....

Another thing I would like to point out. For all the attention Pearl is getting right now and the media making it all about him and the mention of the Lady Vols basketball team, Pearl was QUICK to point out that he got to experience that with HIS basketball team and make it an experience they will never forget. I thought it was a WONDERFUL move on his part to get a mention of the men's team and their players in on that interview. Nice move.

I guarantee that there are Athletic Directors all across the country who heard about this and said to themselves, "wish we had someone who could push our school like that"...

This guy amazes me constantly.

The legend grows.

QFT. Yeah, most the reporters and sport shows are having a lot of fun with this, but that's all it is, good fun. Very few are down right calling him out for it, most are just busting his chops for doing something insane. Kudos to him. Collegiate athletics is about having fun and he's making sure that happens.
