I actually like this idea for a new coach coming in. For Dooley, however, it would just seem like a desperate gimmick when all hope is already lost. The time to do that would have been when he realized that the team is a bunch of entitled ninnies before the season.

Sorry I havent been in today to post, but yes I played at DE in the late 80s/early 90s. I wasnt a huge contributor but got still got some playing time. I always try to keep up with everyone in the AD, even though its been a little harder lately with all the turnover the past few years.

This reminds me of when Steve Spurrior took the Redskins job. He ran a loose ship for two years and they had a lot of issues. It was suggested that he try to tighten things up. As one of the Redskin players pointed out, it just doesn't work that way. From the first day, you have to have firm reins and show the horses who is in charge. It is much easier to start firm and then loosen up a little versus starting loose and then trying to tighten up.

I messed that story up really bad but maybe you get the jest...?

I talked to a couple of guys in the Astronomy Department today. They said that after this season, Dooley is seeing stars.

won't the AD stop talking to you if they know you are yapping on VN? I guess you are deep undercover to keep VN up on secrets within AD. Good show....

It seems like you keep changing your argument. You said UT wouldn't pay big money, and you backed that up by saying a college assistant would be better than a professional assistant? What?

But it's an argument we won't be having for at least another year, probably two or more.

I was responding to the person that mocked me saying Erickson was a bad college coach this decade and an example of a guy who went to the NFL, failed, came back to college and failed again.

Why people think it's about a program and NOT about money is beyond me LawVol. Saban wasn't a Bama fan, he was a fan of their 3rd, and most generous counter-offer.
