Talked to a few guys in the AD today

If you think Jon Gruden is still head coach of the Bucs you need to go to sleep and not wake up.

Here come the conspiracy folks with all those fake internet links and websites.

Warning VN: they use phishing scemes. Don't click on any links they provide to verify something as silly as Gruden was fired. Some people have nothing better to do than to start rumors and then try to bolster the case with heavy investments in cyberspace properties.

Lulz

I think this one's serious though.

You mean the Gruden rumor is serious?

It's just UT fans drinking so much Kool-Aid they start acting out their fantasies. Some even start hallucinating when it comes to Gruden... hearing his voice during NFL games and wierd stuff like that.

It's best to just keep it real. :hi:

Ah, the power of sarcasm.

You guys really have some of these poor ****ers fooled, and it's hilarious. The guy that responded to you...

wasforserious

He probably hasn't watched an NFL game in 4 years.

Chewey knows VN, dude. :hi:

If we're gonna hire Sumlin, let's just keep Dooley.
That way we can pay off some coaches while Dooley's buyout gets a bit cheaper, 'til a real coach comes available.

Who? I don't know ... he's not available yet.

you won't hate scoring a lot of points, will you? I hope not.

Will hate seeing the score be 49-56 tho. Typically what happens in qn Air Raid. Plus I just dont know what to expect from Sumlin, hes never coached a big game against a bigtime bcs school with a pulse on D

Please, not Kevin Sumlin. Absolutely hate spread offenses.

That's because we have watched UF beat us every year with one, while our prostyle offense got it's tail whipped over and over with one 3 and out after another.

Atleast now UF has a prostyle offense that sucks almost as bad as ours. There is a silver lining afterall.

That's not correct info, regarding Grudens supposed interest or listening. A conversation never took place.

I don't know what is correct or if he was ever interested, but he did respond to the rumors in a post game press conference. IIRC, it was essentially saying he loves Tennessee, has respect for the program, but he loved his job.

I just talked to Hart (he was over having a doob with me and Bray) and he said unequivocally that the OP has reached new depths of r-tarddom with this thread.

If you think a program firing a coach after two years isn't going to be a dealbreaker for big-name candidates, then you're incredibly naive about the coaching profession.

This thread, and the football forum in general, is full of folks you just described. They seem to think Stoops or Bielema will just pack their bags and come running to Knoxville if offered a big payday. It's pretty hilarious how naive the FB forum continues to be...:birgits_giggle:

I got an idea for a new offense for us. Let's put a wide receiver at quarterback....say, Zach Rogers. And we will trim the playbook down to only ten plays. Throw maybe 5 or 6 passes per game.

I saw some blue team run this offense on Saturday and they were pretty darn awesome!

I still believe Dooley gets next year and probably the next. After Saturday, I have changed my position on the staff as a whole. It is almost certain that someone will be let go on the offensive staff.

To the OP: IF Dooley is let go, who is paying the buyout and where will the money come from to pay the next guy? IIRC, Fulmer is still owed about $1.5 million between now and next November. Dooley would bring the money paid in buyouts to somewhere between $2.5 and $3 million next year.

Sumlin sounds WAY too much like a flavor of the day type of hire. He certainly isn't the "big name" that so many seem to be demanding. If Hart trades one "up and comer" for another and pays that buyout after only two years... Sumlin better bring UT an SEC championship QUICK or Hart gets to be the guy trying to explain his existence at UT.
