Talked to a few guys in the AD today

Hubbs does not seem to think Chaney will be taking over the OL. In fact, it's certainly not settled that Chaney will be back at all.

Saw that. However, both SpringBok and OCI have said that Chaney is taking over oline and that Porter was contacted tonight for running backs. Not sure who to believe.

So, your saying that we have some pretty inept people in our athletic department. To make a change at this time would only be done by someone that is clueless. It is stupid to make a change at this time. Unless there is something out there that would show that Dooley has lost the confidence of the team, there is no other reason to consider a change at this time. Most analysts had us winning 5 or less games this year due to the lack of talent we had this year. Yes, there was less than we had last year. Yet, Dooley had us fighting to get to 6 and a possible bowl. Am I disappointed that we lost to Kentucky. Absolutely.

But, I am excited about where this team is heading. Dooley already has a solid class and should finish with a top 10 recruiting class. UT will have a winning record next year with at least 8 wins. Dooley will finally start having some upper classmen playing more than a couple of positions total on offense and defense. So, we will finally be fielding a team comparable to what they are playing against. UT had the fewest upper classmen in the SEC in the 2 deep this past year and most of ours were on the 2nd team. That's a handicap most coaches can't overcome. Kiffin had a better hand dealt to him and he only went 6-7. Dooley has had 2 years now with a worse hand than Fulmer's last year or Kiffin's and he's done basically as well as both of them did with the teams they had.

And you want to bring in another coach that is basically from the same level as Dooley was. To go to Sumlin would be mistake at this time. I believe Hart knows that and is smart enough to stick with Dooley for another year.

By sticking with Dooley for another year, all these naysayers will realize it was the right decision. So, quit your whinning and suck it up. It took 10 years to knock us down to this level and Kiffin knocked us down even lower. It will take 4 years to dig ourselves out of it and become relevant again. I think Dooley will have us relevant next year and contending for a championship in 2 years.

link?

And Dooley said we had improved at every position but TE.

One of the dumbest posts in VN history.

Welcome to the board, Barbara.

Anybody who just called one of the most tradition rich, proud conferences in America "awful" has no place in this discussion at all.

There's football being played north of the Mason-Dixon line.

Give it up suckeye homer. You, nor Tressel have no merit when it comes to integrity. The cheating vest will never coach D1 again. The cheating vest can go coach Sandusky's new team. If he's good enough.

I don't have a link to any at the moment , but alot of prognosticators had us going 6-6 , 5-7 or 7-5. I remember because of how many of us thought they were completely retarded. Myself included. I thought the low point would be 7 or 8 wins. We were guilty of setting ourselves up for disappointment. Then Hunter went down and everything went to hell.

Wow, nice insight there Billy Bob.

If chaney is gone, how do you get a good oc to come in knowing it might be dooley's last year. I think we either get a cant miss hc now or replace some position coaches and give dooley another year.

Only way I want Dooley gone is if we have a home run hire waiting... I dont want to fire Dooley for Kevin Sumlin. How would that be an upgrade?

I havent had a chance to talk with Hart, but I should sometime this week. If Dooley doesnt make a very strong case for himself in his post season review, he is out. Sumlin is the name thats bouncing around, and Ive heard hes been contacted. Wilcox should be fine regardless, but Chaney will be gone regardless. If Dooley doesnt make a strong case for himself, look for Sumlin to take the reigns and be paired with Wilcox.

sure you did.

Wow, nice insight there Billy Bob.

And you offer more? You are the one that has been bleating about Tressel. Please illuminate us on what he has done and where he is going? Bruce Pearl has been scorned and scorched and basically banned from UT for committing what, a cookout, and lied about it. Your esteemed vest has yet to open the top button on his own tribulations - but he cut and ran. I would rather take an honest man, such as Coach Dooley, and a losing season - than stand behind a cheating coward. You seem so proud of the coward. Are you his son?

Nice basketball examples there Rupp.

Eeek saw Lexington and thought you were a blue blood.

My bad.

Bowl losses to some very good teams from the SEC makes him a bad coach?

Get real.

Wow, nice insight there Billy Bob.

Sumlin is certainly not the guy for the job.

But Dooley has got to go.

what if scenario. hart was at florida state for years and i know coach bowden want the record for the most wins for a coach in college football, so why not bring him in for about 3 to 5 yrs. with a head coach in waiting in some sort. bowden is a big time name and a beloved coach to add at a traditionally prestigious university. the 3 to 5 yr. time frame is nessary because our coach in waiting still have about 5 yrs on his contract if he is able to return next yr. then we bring in the coach that will be at tennesse until he decides to leave or retire in peyton manning. only after we offer the job to the likes of (jon gruden, tony dungy, and for some reason i like herm edwards..)just my thought if we did fire cdd but i perfer to keep him because i believe it will hurt us furthermore. i think he is a decent coach just came into a terrible situation that is why other coaches turn the job down. the rebuilding process is started give him a chance to succeed and prove he was worth it. go big orange..........

Bowden has no business on the sideline again. Well unless he is wearing depends and visiting his son during a game.

not sumlin !!!either need to get gruden or Petersen from Boise they both would do a heck of a job and 1 of them is already beating Georgia....

LawVol, your effort has been valiant, but it's like trying to catch the wind. Stand down man! Before everyone gets killed!!

Your heart is in the right place young man. But for this UT team to survive and prosper, we really need to give Coach Dooley and his assistants time to prove themselves. 2010, Coach Dooley basically took over a very crappy situation. He managed to keep some of kiffins players. 2011 he signed a very good class - which is surprising considering the state of the program. The 2011 season is not one to be forgotten. Everything that could go wrong, went wrong. Well, we did beat Vandy. Now, to the future. We will basically have the same team back next year with the exception of Malick. It's going to hurt us. That's the down side. On the upside - we will basically have the same team back next year, with a few extras. A few special extras. CDD, IMO, will have to make some adjustments to the offensive staff. Not firing anybody but actually hiring quality people to help out. That's about it. IMO - all the crying and whining this year will be worth it next year - and especially the year after.

Is Bowden still alive?

When I heard about the Joe Pa situation at Penn State, I imagined that after saying a prayer for the victims and their families, that he said "You might have the won the battle old man, but I won the war daggumit!"

C'mon nicks,,,I love it when the Law lays down the law. Let him piss on 'em then put it out with fire. Makes for some damn good entertainment now that football season is over.:hi:

that is the same that everyone said about, sorry to use this name at this time but jo.pa, before these allegations at the age of 84 he had ever high profile player atleast thinking of giving him a visit. his recruiting classes never struggle because of his age. it is just the wow fact of a coach we need to capture.
