Talked to a few guys in the AD today

Yeah, I just found a published quote he made after the game yesterday. So I think it could be either Todd Kelly or Kacy Rodgers. Kacy is semi-retired in that he has coached at a bunch of places but hasn't coached in the last couple of years. Do you happen to know what Todd does for a living? I think that Todd has a son in high school who might be a future DB for us

I'm not disagreeing with your guesses, but I wanted to point out that another former player who posts here was outed a month or so ago, and it was kind of sad. One of the things he mentioned was that it was why very few former players post here. Just a thought. :hi:

Spoke to a friend who lives in Houston. He told me that rumor is that Sumlin has been contacted. Take it for what its worth. I do not know the OP nor do I make off the wall predictions. Take it for what its worth!

that makes 2 mentions of contact made to Sumlin. 3 and its officially smoke.

I havent had a chance to talk with Hart, but I should sometime this week. If Dooley doesnt make a very strong case for himself in his post season review, he is out. Sumlin is the name thats bouncing around, and Ive heard hes been contacted. Wilcox should be fine regardless, but Chaney will be gone regardless. If Dooley doesnt make a strong case for himself, look for Sumlin to take the reigns and be paired with Wilcox.

Dooley will be here next year. Sumlin would be two steps down.

Ok, that is a good point. I will drop it.

For those posters sayin pass-happy offenses won't work in the SEC, you are right.

While you are at it, spread offenses won't work either against SEC defenses.

yeah, because we have so many Tebows and Harvins at our disposal.

No I do not know what he does and yes his son is an outstanding player at Webb HS.

i could deal with it.

What exactly does that mean?

Is there a difference between making a strong case for yourself during the football season as opposed to the off season?

What's the time window on this?

Just that Dooley has to convince Hart that this season was a fluke. He had a decent case up until yesterday. Hes going to have to make Hart believe that games like yesterday will never happen again. Hart is ready to make his mark on UT. None of the coaches here, are the ones hes hired.

We do NOT need to get rid of CDD. This isn't just all on him, the two previous coaches have left us with garbage. Whether it's talent or getting kicked off the team....that's why when Hunter went down CDD took it so hard. Because of the lack of talent elsewhere and depth issues. You could tell he was absolutely shook after that injury. Bray gets injured and he tried everything to keep us competitive. Some of the throws Bray made during UK game were horrible and that is because of the thumb not being at 100%. But think if we have kept Brown, JJ, Nuke, Hughes, even Aaron Douglas (R.I.P.) and not suffered the injuries to our two players that we need most, much different season! Of course there are players that leave when a coaching change happens...I get that but all of these things are why we had a poor season. And it really exposed the depth issues that the two previous coaches and CDD have left the program in. He needs more time to truly rebuild us...it was going to come to rock bottom with the injuries this year! I'm not saying we would've beat Ala. or LSU but FL, GA, and def. UK! So VN get a little realistic with your team! It would be a complete disaster to fire CDD! He will reevaluate the staff and make changes as needed.

i agree that sumlin for dooley would be a lateral move - neigher have proven anything against top teams

if we could get a monster hire like a Pete Carroll i get pulling the trigger - but this seems desperate

Tennessee>Houston

This is fun.

Tvols, I think you're knowledgeable and a good poster. How in the hell you think hiring a guy from C-USA, who throws 50 times a game and compiled a losing record when he didn't have the quarterback who's passed for more yards than anyone in the history of college football, is somehow the fix to our problem, I have absolutely no idea. It's ludicrous.

You're looking at a sample size of one season. If he was coaching for 10 years and just had a couple good years under Keenum, I'd agree. However, he had one bad season when his starting quarterback went down. That, combined with the fact that he's spent his entire career constantly working his way up in the ranks and improving things makes me feel pretty good about his chances to win big. Also, I believe he's done a pretty good job upgrading the talent at Houston.

Anyone who goes, "but he sucked without Keenum", is judging a man who has been a head coach for 51 games on the basis of 9 games.

Even without Keenum, Houston still played other clubs close for the most part.

It would still be a better move than what Dooley was when he came in here.
