Talked to a few guys in the AD today

I doubt the original post has merit. I want Dooley gone but also understand Hart doing this would make him the exception, not the rule.

I'm not a Vol fan (Obviously) but if you fire Dooley after 2 years, do you really expect a top-flight coach to come in knowing he has virtually no room for error in "rebuilding" a program?

I think some people on this board define "rebuilding" as beating Florida regardless of roster, winning the East regardless of implementing a new scheme, and winning 9 games regardless of schedule.

1. if a top-flight coach were to come in and start rebuilding right now, the situation he would find himself in would be a lot better than it has been the past few years.

2. we define "rebuilding" as beating ANYONE that we aren't supposed to necessarily beat and at least showing that we are competitive.

Hell, look at our basketball team. Martin has come out and played down to the wire with two top 10 teams in the country already. Sure, we lost both games, and none of us are happy with moral victories, but at least he is showing progress. What progress has Dooley shown since he has been here? the point of rebuilding is to make progress, so if no progress is being made, we aren't really rebuilding.

There's a considerable difference in "no room for error in rebuilding" compared to team showing no improvement in the fundamentals of tackling, blocking, kicking, or running with the ball after two years.

Star player was hurt, apparently it's acceptable to go 5-7 with an injury or 2 I like Sumlin though.

I hope this is sarcasm. Otherwise, why are we looking. Isn't this the same situation we were in this year? :ermm:

As far as the op....check the ring of honor in the stadium...maybe that will help us figure out who he is

As far as having to run the ball...yes you need to run the ball in the sec at least a little but pass happy offenses can work. Spurrier will agree. But his teams could still run the football

For those posters sayin pass-happy offenses won't work in the SEC, you are right.

While you are at it, spread offenses won't work either against SEC defenses.

Can't tell if the OP is legit or what, but I'm sure Freak and the Mods would have nuked this thread or at least renamed the title if this is just some poor trolling effort. JMO

Dooley SHOULD get another season, same as Muschamp imo.

Sometimes we are too close to be rational. We just think with emotion. Waco is far enough away to understand what perception would be if we made a change now. He is spot on.

It's kinda what I was getting at in my post. Spurriers teams could run the football but make no mistake they threw it around the yard

I think they are saying the spread won't work unless it incorporates a running QB.

I havent had a chance to talk with Hart, but I should sometime this week. If Dooley doesnt make a very strong case for himself in his post season review, he is out. Sumlin is the name thats bouncing around, and Ive heard hes been contacted. Wilcox should be fine regardless, but Chaney will be gone regardless. If Dooley doesnt make a strong case for himself, look for Sumlin to take the reigns and be paired with Wilcox.

This is, IMO, the main thing that needs to happen. The offense has no creativity and has no form or function to it. Its not necesarily the plays themselves but the play calling scheme. There is no rythym, for lack of a better word.

I like Chaney as he seems to have a good relationship with the players, but it seems that he would make a beter QB coach than OC.

Whether this post is credible, who knows, but the OC should most definitely be the first thing addressed in the "review session"

I would say that the OP is Chuck Smith......except that Chuck can't spell....and Chuck hate Wilcox.

I will put on my Sherlock Holmes hat......hmmmmmmmmmmm.........

5-7 last year...no way we hire tht loser...

Totally agree with the waco kid.Urban Meyer was kicking butts and taking names in the SEC running the spread.Teams didn't and still don't know how to stop the spread.Pro set offenses are going the way of the wing T,....oh wait,...didn't we just lose to a really bad Kentucky team running their version of the wing T.Yep,we have made history,26 years worth of beating Kentucky and we got beat by a Wr playing QB,Dooley must go....IMMEDIATELY.He had 2 years to show SOME improvement,i really don't like being the laughingstock of the SEC.F'n Kentucky.....

Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of the pro offense and prefer it but we were as close as we could get to running a spread at some points this year. It could be successful in the SEC but to win championships you have to run the ball and control the clock.

Spurriers run and gun offense would work. Any offense would work if we could simply run the ball which we couldn't.

I want an SEC CALIBER COACH!!

I don't care if Houston has won a thousand games in a row. I want a coach who has been a HEAD coach against great teams. Not as an offensive coordinator and then an HC at freaking Houston. Get real.
