Talked to a few guys in the AD today

I havent had a chance to talk with Hart, but I should sometime this week. If Dooley doesnt make a very strong case for himself in his post season review, he is out. Sumlin is the name thats bouncing around, and Ive heard hes been contacted. Wilcox should be fine regardless, but Chaney will be gone regardless. If Dooley doesnt make a strong case for himself, look for Sumlin to take the reigns and be paired with Wilcox.

Keeps getting deeper. Dooley is not going any where. He will have to replace some coaches. You will see. I talked to Heart. :birgits_giggle:

Holy $h!+, we are checking out the contract of a whiny guy who loses every big game he coaches in - and got outcoached by Fulmer mind you - and even wondering if he would leave mid-level program like Wisconsin for us? We all need to meet somewhere for a sobering afternoon of drinking, reality, and perspective. Please lets stop with this...

We don't need to run the football to win in this league, or any other one for that matter. Is it nice to be able to? Yes. Can you win without it? Yes, yes you can.

Alright, pet peeve time over. First off, the OP probably doesn't have much (or any) connection with the UTAD.

Bielema isn't leaving Wisconsin. Alvarez groomed him to be his successor at Wisconsin, and I doubt he leaves the state, even for $4M per year.

Sumlin would be the mid-major candidate I'd want, but you'd need to look around a little first before you call him. Plus, his offense would require a major retooling, and that might take a while.

Before you get on me, as long as the team shows improvement, I'm fine with a retooling/rebuilding period. Dooley hasn't really improved or helped this team to grow, well, any at all since he's been here, and that's my problem with his tenure as Tennessee's coach.

Again, Houston has run for 165 ypg this year.

Also, Sumlin was the OC for Oklahoma in 2006 and Peterson (before he got hurt) was on pace for a 2,000 yard season.

I think Sumlin can adjust. Meyer actually threw the ball more with Alex Smith at Utah.

Good stats though :good!:

Houston has run for that much primarily because of their competetion. You are right about Oklahoma in 2006, however, Kevin Wilson (now head coach at Indiana) was actually the playcaller.

Sumlin may be able to adjust. I just find it hard to believe that a team who passes the ball 60% of the time will win in the SEC. I like the Bielema option a TON better, although I'm not certain he would leave. I'm in favor of giving Dooley 1 more year but if we do fire him, I'd offer Bielema big time money.

(BTW, Meyer actually ran it more with Alex Smith)
2004 Utah (last year with Meyer and Smith)
343 pass attempts (39%)
526 rush attempts (61%)

2006 Oklahoma
340 pass attempts (38%)
557 rush attempts (62%)

How in the hell does anyone here know anything like this much less would talk about here?

They wouldn't. Just a keyboard cowboy looking for some internet junkies to admire his "connected" status. Just BS. There's just no way the AD is going to be in a position for that sort of info to be "leaked".

Passing can be your first option, but you have to run the ball well to win titles, especially in the SEC.

Beilema is an Iowa guy. For the right amount, I think you could pull him. JMO though.

Completely agree about Sumlin.

I read the Utah stats backwards.

I agree you have to run. And I think that's a big question with Sumlin about the running game.

IMO if you replace DD at this point it needs to be with a big name coach that has some hype with his name. I could be wrong but I dont think Sumlin has that hype. So if you cant get a big name with hype, you would be better off keeping DD for at least 1 more year.

If we make a change right now it has to be a proven winner in a strong BCS conference. Sumlin is a hot name, but I fear he might benefit more from circumstance than ability. If he had sustained success for 5+ years then you'd know it wasn't 1 player (Case Keenum).

We've got to get a guy that can recruit with the best of them, coach with the best of them. If we have that then at least we'll be in a position to win championships when we get the breaks.

This is precisely the problem with hiring Sumlin.

Oh Mighty Lord of the Rings - I haven't been kicked off of here in a while so here goes. Even if there is any truth to anything you are saying here -- which I seriously doubt- what sort of dickwad would broadcast it on a board shortly after talking with people in the AD.

First of all - if you haven't talked to Hart you haven't really talked to anyone and whoever you did talk to no doubt trusted you to keep your mouth shut.

Talking to Gus Manning or the assistant concessionaire really doesn't count now does it.

I don't mind people getting on here and speculating or suggesting what might happen and if it does who might be a possible candidate but this is both reckless and unprofessional if someone actually did share their thoughts that works in the AD.

Looks like grandstanding and only presented to make yourself look important.

If you have legitimate inside information - do us all a favor and keep it to yourself - if you don't - do us all a favor and keep it to yourself.

I agree...we need one with a Wow factor. That's what we needed two years ago and we got DD! WTH?!
