Sumlin's best team beat La. Tech by a point. I fail to see an advantage in either direction.
Sumlin's best team wasn't in a major conference. Leach had all the time in the world to win something of significance. He couldn't.

I think if we're going for an up and comer then Kirby Smart deserves a call. Smart is an excellent defensive mind, top notch recruiter, and has been right under Saban's wing. They have been holding onto him at Bama for a reason. If Smart could put together a good staff and find us a great OC with a good offensive gameplan then id love to have him as our new HC. Considering Hart's connections at Bama I could see this hire happening in the future.

Look at Muschamp and I think that's what you'll get with Smart.

What has Keenum proven without Sumlin?

I don't know nor do I care. What Sumlin has proven without Keenum is somehow more important to me if we were considering hiring him. Sumlin has shown to have built his team around one player. We'll see how it goes when that one player is no longer with them.

The Vols would of won 10 games this year with Houston Schedule..and why would Bielema leave Wisconsin to come to UT...he would just leave us when Iowa came calling or another program

Please God don't give us Mike Leach.

Can you imagine the PR hit UT would take for firing all-around nice guy Derek Dooley and hiring, "I'll lock you in a storage closet" Mike Leach. Seriously?! Some of y'all don't think things through real well.

They said the same thing about Urban's spread option offense...just sayin.

Urbans featured power running

If you can run the ball from the spread it works ..
Auburn , Florida , Oregon

Even the Fun and gun featured 60% running

I think Sumlin will be successful at this level. I would like to have him at UT. I also can totally understand why people would be against it. I would like Strong as well. Hart has FSU ties as we know, let's just hope he isn't flying Tommy or Terry Bowden in anytime soon.

Maybe so, but that offense is built on the run. Similar run/pass ratio to a pro style, just from different formations. Houston's offense is completely different. The air raid offense passes the ball the majority of the time. I have yet to see a team who can't run the ball win in the SEC. Here are some Houston stats from this year compared Meyer's last year at Florida

Houston
546 pass attempts (59%)
373 rush attempts (41%)

10' Florida
381 pass attempts (43%)
504 rush attempts (57%)

Houston is averaging 165 yards per game rushing.

Probably true. I miss the days when you could throw Tennessee up there with those guys.

Me too. Tennessee is up their in my mind from a fan's point of view. Being realistic... not so much. Sad.

It happens though. Notice I didn't list Nebraska, Michigan, Florida State or Miami. I think we will get our turn again.

Michigan is sniffing close. They've just been down for a while. They'll be back. Nebraska and Florida State are working on it but I don't think their current coaches are the answer.
