Bell bowl would be a big bonus for this season.
I guessed 6 wins on the season and still think they can get them if they improve like they should. ( I still have faith, maybe not against Florida tho, lol)
Anyway, any bowl this season may be the ceiling.

Goodness. I'm so glad I'm not Pruitt. Inherit a roster that doesn't fit what you wanna do, get beat by a Top 25 team with a Heisman level QB and a top level WR, and having a group of guys who haven't been developed in their positions....and then basically get trashed by a fanbase after one game. Ridiculous.

I dont think they are being trashed at all. I think people are just getting comfortable that this year was already lost last year.
this team is already on pace to do what most predicted they would do, which is be extremely lucky to make a bowl. So I see no reason to say they are being unduly trashed. People just see it for what it is and the idiots that though just hiring a new coach was gonna make an instant difference didnt consider the fact that all these Butch Jones players are ruined beyond repair and probably would have done well to go to another school not coached by Butch Jones. I think CJP would dismiss half his team if it were up to him. It is what it is and the problem was more than just a bad coach but also bad players (or players who had high upside if developed properly but its too late now).

I like their optimism, but realistically let’s just play the next couple of games and see where we stand

I just want to see a defensive back turn his head when he is defending a pass or at least make a tackle. Even better than that, how about breaking up a pass once in a while?

That's how most on VN role unfortunately. JP inherited CBJ's mess and these bunch of idiots think he should win 11 games this year. I would love us to go undefeated but the reality is we may be a 7 or 8 win team at best and I'll take that. JP and staff have to have some time to bring in the players they want for their system, not someone else's. We have to be patient as this is the problem with flipping freaking coaches every 3-5 yrs. Out with the old and in with the new.

I saw signs already of player development from last year, mainly Jordan and JG. JG was awful last year, holding the ball to long and taking ugly sacks. He was quick, and mostly on time Saturday and that's encouraging. Jordan looked like a beast. We'll be 2-1 with Florida coming in so should be interesting. I think we can beat the Gators as not much has changed for either team. We've had the 3-4 yrs only winning 1. Still not sure how we can lose those 3 but we did and thanks CBJ for those memories.

Cheers to this weekend and Go Vols!

;)

Are you saying we should have trashed him before the game?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Virginia Tech appear in the ACC title game, who knows maybe an upset.....I somehow don't see Florida State or Miami making it.

Yep. 'Couldn't have stated it better myself, 505. I envision this team gradually improving at times...and then making a few surges; a mix of disappointments...as in the one we all just experienced...and euphoric surprises...as in an upset somewhere down this season's path. Instead of crying about growing pains, maybe-just-maybe we should all just relax and watch this little cub grow into a gigantic, roaring lion. It'll take time. But, wouldn't it be better to pass that time smilin' and not cryin'?GBO!
I've heard/read enough from some of our "bleed orange" VFL fanbase that pours negativity upon our players and coaches. These same "true volunteers" plead often for our team to show grit and, determination, for our young men to never quit. It seems they are asking for something that they themselves can't give. Coach(s), team I believe and trust in your abilities and will take the bruises, lumps and heartache until we taste Sugar once again because I am a VOLUNTEER!

I was hoping that maybe CJP and staff could coach it out of them but I got my doubts after watching Warrior play so soft. Also I expected a lot more players getting to the ball on D but they seemed slow. Hopefully it's the new system combined with Grier's ability to read defenses. If worse comes to worse, I'll be content with playing the younger players with more upside including Shrout. Just invest in the future at the expense of the present. Then again, I still believe 6 wins is a good season.

If you’ve been listening to Pruitt and even Fuller, they’ve been saying the same thing. It’s going to be a long ugly season. 6 wins Is a long shot (not a given as many say) However, none of it is Pruitt’s fault. Hopefully we start seeing improvements and the offense can start clicking. I think he can get the defense turned around in time

I don’t agree with none of it is Pruitt’s fault logic. If he fails to beat Vandy and Ky that’s on him. If he makes bad in game calls and puts ten men in the field again that’s on him. If he mismanages the clock and loses a game that’s one him. He doesbt get a free pass to lose 9 games this season
