anyone that thinks nascar is "helping" JJ out is just blinded by their hatred for JJ. it would not be in nacsars best intrests to cut him any breaks at all.

that block he threw was just a great piece of driving. he may be in the top 3 drivers i have ever seen in nascar.

Everyone has a great car at Daytona, just look at the finishing order.

Harvick had the best car today for about 5 laps today, and he put it in the wall. Otherwise Johnson was better all day.

Harvick was better for about 60% of the day.

Agree 100%. I have never been a Johnson fan, but have come to respect him. He is one of the top 5 drivers in the Nascar history right now, and may go down as the greatest of all time by the time his career is finished.

The 48 team makes it's own luck. They are almost always in a position to capitalize when good fortune arises.

Well, Jimmie won, best car or not.

Would I have preferred to see Harvick win? Yes, though he is a pain in the ass, at least he brings out some emotion and adds personality to things.

Johnson is great, but he's the NASCAR version of the old Red Army hockey teams, bland, lacking any flair, and brutally efficient.

I'm a Kenseth fan, and he is boring as can be, but at least he can show some anger or make an off the cuff remark now and then.

Have no love for JJ either...But to think Nascar wants him to win all the time is ridiculous!

Go Juan Pablo

Obviously Harvick had a penalty. It's hard to lead when you're working your way up from 27th, but OK.
So why wasn't Harvick leading all the laps, pulling away, and dominating the race with his clearly superior car even before the penalty?

Obviously with the competition the way it is and the aero package, he wasn't just going to drive up through the field. He was just waiting until the right moment.

I'm confused, help me out here. He wasn't going to drive up through the field because the competition is tough and the aero package makes it difficult... or he was just waiting for the right moment to utilize his clearly superior car at which point the competition would apparently become less tough and the aero package more inviting to passing?

I'm not sure how much you know about Nascar, but, it isn't the Nationwide Series. He's not going to go from 27th to the lead in one tire cycle. Be a little more realistic, geez.

Guys like Biffle and Jeff Gordon started that race in the back and it didn't take them long to move to the front. It didn't take Denny Hamlin long to pass several cars either even though they didn't finsh well they did move forward before they had their problems.

Also, with the double file restart, it puts drivers in 26th much closer to the front now. I would think if the fastest car was only 13 rows back it shouldn't take too long to move to the front.

Where did Harvick restart with 21 laps left?

You're the one who said he was "just waiting until the right moment" which seemed to imply Harvick could go anytime he wanted, he just chose not to until the time was right, thus my confusion.

We'll ignore the first part of that post for now.
